Shipping, Unboxing, and Offgassing
The pillow was shipped quickly and arrived on my front porch within a week after ordering. It arrived in an unmarked, plain brown cardboard box approximately the size of the pillow. It was sealed in plastic, but not compressed – which is good as it allows the natural foams to rest without tight packaging. There was no off gassing at all.
Initial Impressions
I’ve reviewed other Avocado products in the past, and am used to them coming with informational cards pertaining to material use and care, but this pillow came as it. There was nothing extra included, or any sort of brand packaging either. I did think this a little odd, however this is a VERY new product and I feel I may have gotten an early release to help showcase the pillow as quickly as possible.
The pillow was lightweight, ‘squishy’ feeling, and covered with a soft, stretchy, and thick feeling cover. I also noticed that the pillow felt cool to the touch upon initial inspection.
Construction
I have always been happy with Avocado products, and despite not having a lot of information on the construction of this pillow in advance, I was impressed with the overall quality. Made from certified cotton, and a soft natural latex that includes a charcoal core, it is designed to provide a cooler night’s sleep while holding your head and neck in a comfortable position.
Material Casing
The included pillow case is made from 100% organically sourced cotton and is Class 1 certified GOTS material. Even the cotton threading is of the same quality to provide a sustainable, safe material to lay your head upon. It also doesn’t retain heat and wicks away moisture to provide a cooler night’s rest.
I love the feel of their cotton covers as it is soft, thick and ‘squishy’ feeling. It is a luxury material that is soft and gentle on the skin. The smoother feeling surface also allows your hair to stay soft and tangle free if you choose not to use another pillowcase.
Lay Flat Zipper
The case contains a lay flat zipper on one end of the pillow casing. It is well sewn into the seam to lay flat and does not change the feel or fit of the case when closed. It zips and unzips easily without catching on material or being tough to move.
Filling
The filling is a solid, molded Dunlap latex designed to allow airflow through for excellent breathability. The shape is designed for sturdy neck support and works well for side sleepers. The softer feel also allows for easy compression for back and some stomach sleepers. Charcoal infused, this helps keep bacteria, odor, moisture, and heat away as well, and when combined with the air flow cutouts in the pillow, you have a very healthy sleep surface.

The support the latex lends is a favorite among consumers as it does not shift, or create compression indentations that require time to decompress. The charcoal addition helps with longevity of use, and keeps it from soaking in body dirt and oils. Plus, the overall design and materials makes it a cooler sleep. The cotton casing supports this cooling effect, and is very comforting. Altogether, it is a hypoallergenic choice also, making it a great choice for children and those who suffer from allergies.

Heat Transfer
As mentioned earlier, the pillow is designed to sleep cooler. Everything from the breathable cotton cover, shaped and molded latex, and charcoal infusion makes this a very cool pillow to sleep on. I found this very comfortable, and when you press down on it, it sends up a ‘puff’ of air as well. I felt no heat retention at all, and was impressed how quickly the latex bounced back to shape after being used.
Durability
Long-lasting and durable materials are often more natural than synthetic, and this pillow has all natural materials that are minimally processed. The cover and latex fill are both guaranteed by the Avocado Company and come with a warranty to back its claims.
Maintenance, Protection, Care & Warranty
This is an easy pillow to keep clean. The outer casing can be washed in cold water and tumble dried, and the latex fill can be blotted if any cleaning is needed. It should never be machine washed. The company suggests washing the cover by hand and hang drying or longer life.
Warranty and Sleep Trial
Many companies do not offer a sleep trial since they are such personal products, but this one comes with a 100-night trial during which you can return the pillow. It also has a full 1 year warranty against material and manufacturing defects.

Reviews and Feedback
This is a BRAND NEW product from Avocado, and finding any amount of consumer feedback was a challenge. However, I did find a little: it is said the pillow feels like a luxury item, is comforting, cool, and very comfortable. It seems to work well with a wide array of sleep positions, but may be a little thin for taller, or heavier side sleepers. It does work well for all back sleepers however, as I could find no complaints.
I could find no issue with the construction of the pillow and found it very comfortable for both side and back sleeping. It holds your weight perfectly and cradles the neck in a very comforting manner. I also like how it can be used to help cushion joints, such as the lower back and knees. Personally I could not use it for stomach sleeper as it was too tall for that purpose, but the overall softness and easy compression was comforting.
