The Queen sized pad that incorporates a dual control to suit both you and your partner’s sleep comfort.

The Chilipad design incorporates a series of micro-tubes that allow water flow to control temperature. These tubes are set into a pad that sets under your sheets and is entirely controlled by you. Each system comes with a pad and a cube. Each temperature zone is controlled by a cube that holds and circulates heated and cooled water in the pad. The two are connected by a tubing system and can be controlled via a wireless remote so you don’t have to get yourself out of bed to adjust your comfort.

2. BedJet V2 Heating and Cooling System

FEATURES

  • Washable
  • Dual controls
  • Set personalized temperature for every hour of the night.
  • 5 year warranty
  • Temperature range from 70-89°F

The BedJet allows for both cooling and heating depending on your specific needs. It can be controlled not only through a wireless remote, but is also through your bluetooth enabled  smartphone. It was developed by a former NASA engineer who launched the product in 2015 on the popular show Shark Tank and through online crowdfunding. Since then it has become a popular sleep industry investment for anyone looking for individualized night time temperature control.

The unit does not cool the air at all, but rather the movement of the cooler air near the floor (remember, cold air sinks) being blown against your skin provides both convection and evaporative cooling processes. However it does heat air when you have it set to either the warming or turbo warming settings. Warm air can be blown anywhere from 85 to 109 degrees for both quick and gradual heating purposes.

This is a pretty versatile product that just about anyone will be able to find a degree of comfort with through both it’s heating and cooling effects. It is easy to setup and use and rather fun to play with if you download the app for personalized settings. As an added bonus you do have dual climate options to keep you and your sleep partner happy. An excellent option for anyone looking to heat or cool their bed for a more satisfying sleep.

Pros

  • Both cools and heats your body
  • Can work with your own sheets, or optional BedJet Comforter
  • Is specific to helping eliminate body moisture and sweat from the bed

Cons

  • Loud blowing noise on high setting
  • Sheets pull loose easily

4. Beautyrest Cotton Blend Heated Mattress Pad

FEATURES

  • Washable
  • Dual controls
  • 10 hour auto-shut off
  • Secure comfort technology
  • 5 year warranty
  • 5 heat settings

The Beautyrest Cotton Blend Heated Mattress Pad features a 200 thread count quilted top that provides its users with amazing comfort. It fits perfectly on any bed thanks to the fitted skirt, keeping it in place, no matter how much you move around during the night. The firmness level of the pad is a medium, putting it right in the middle of the firmness scale.

This heated mattress pad has been specifically designed to eliminate almost all electromagnetic field emissions thanks to the Secure Comfort technology. It also has a 10-hour auto-shut-off timer to ensure that your pad doesn’t overheat and cause a fire. The other nice thing about this pad is that it has soft, flexible wires and the quilted top that give you optimal comfort.

One thing that makes this pad different from the others is that it only as 5 settings rather than 10 and it’s a push button style controller. This is nice for those who may have a problem using their hands in the turning motion. All they have to do is push a button, however, the numbers are a tad small, so it wouldn’t work well for those who have a vision issue.

Heated Mattress Pad Buyers Guide

Sometimes, having a warm bedroom just isn’t enough. There are some nights when you just need to climb into a toasty bed on top of already warmed up sheets. During those cold winter nights, I hate getting into bed on top of cold satin sheets. It completely ruins my night, no matter how warm my bedroom is. The solution to this issue is rather simple. All you have to do is get yourself a heated mattress pad. No, I’m not talking about those pads that you use for pain relief on your neck or a small part of your body. I mean a pad that goes under your sheets that fits your entire bed. Here’s how you can find the best heated pads for your bed.

We bought and tested some of the highest rated heated mattress pads on the market. Scroll down to see how they rank.

What Makes A Good Heated Mattress Pad

Honestly, you shouldn’t walk into a store and pick up any heated mattress pad and take it home. It takes some thought and research because there are so many of them out there. Here are a few characteristics that you should look for when searching for that perfect product.

Safety

This is the first thing that you should think about before you make your purchase. The number one thing that you should look at is whether or not the heated mattress pad complies with UL964 standards. These are the heated mattress pad safety regulations that are set for electric bedding products in the United States.

Some manufacturers will give you the option of non-hazardous DC voltage, so make sure that you read the labeling very carefully. Not all heated bedding is safe for everyone, such as those with health issues, circulation problems, children and infants, adults with disabilities, and those who may not be able to understand the instructions.

You can also get most pads with a timer on them. They are usually set to 10-hour auto-shut off for those who may forget or for those who just want to set it and forget it.

Ease Of Use

Ease of use is something that you should take a look at as well, especially if you have arthritis. If the controllers are difficult to adjust on a certain product, steer clear of it and go for something with controllers that are easier to use, such as push buttons. Some models will come with small numbers that those with poor vision may have a problem seeing. In this case, you would want something with larger numbers. You may also be able to get something with wireless controllers for even better ease of use.

Quality

When it comes to quality, the warranty information will come in handy for this. A well made heated mattress pad will have at least a 5 year warranty. The material that the covering is made from should also be well made and not be able to pull, pick, or pill easily. If you want to up the ante for quality, fo with a higher thread could. You should also look for flexible and thin wires for a comfortable sleeping surface.

Special Features

Many models will come with nifty features such as auto shut-off, multiple heat levels, personalized settings, and more. You may also be able to machine wash your mattress pad. Before you do anything with your product, you should read the instruction booklet that comes with it and check the tag because it may be dry clean only.

Temperature Control

Not only should controlling the temperature be easy for you, but it should also be enjoyable. Whether you have a knob or digital control, everything should be simple to use. Even if you are using it for the first time, you should still be able to figure it out within a short amount of time.

It is also important to think about the ability of the user before you purchase the unit and how easy it is going to be. If you have poor vision, you will want something with large number that are easy to see. If you have problems with your hands, find something that may require push button rather than a dial-bringing this back to the ease of use.

Fit

This is something that I really look for when I’m shopping around. A lot of the heated mattress pads will be like a fitted sheet and wrap around the edges of your bed with elastic, while others will just lay on the top. I don’t like the ones that just lay there because they move around as you do. I like the ones that aren’t too tight and not too loose.

Pad VS Blanket

Why not wrap yourself in warmth instead of laying on it? Seems like a good idea, right? You see, an electric blanket may seem fine and dandy at first, but as soon as they get wet, they’re toast. Most heated pads thee days are waterproof or are allowed to get wet to a certain extent.

Heated mattress pads also keep the warmth around your entire body better than a blanket does because the blanket allows a lot of the heat to travel to the ceiling. The pad, however, will send that heat up to your body, making sure not to waste any of it.

Decor is another reason that a pad isn’t really the way to go. With blankets, they’re right there to be seen. With the pads, they can be tossed under any blanket you wish, out of sight, out of mind. Nobody will ever know that you have a heated mattress pad under your sheets.

Conclusion

Not all products are going to be the same, which is why we write these reviews. Some are going to be better than others, but in this case, they all seem to perform the same, but cost a little differently with exception to the Chilipad. It offers the best control, dual zone and can cool as well as heat. It performed very well in our tests and kept up with varying ambient temperatures. But the price is a lot higher than an electric heated pad. Here we would choose either Sunbeam or the Beautyrest Cotton Blend Heated Mattress Pad. While most of the heated pads performed very similar, it is the durability of them that stood out specifically the Beautyrest.

Beautyrest was the only one that didn’t have any complaints about burnt connectors. This is something that really caught my attention. This one may also be much easier for a lot of people to handle in terms of the controllers as well. I personally tested this one and I slept well on it and I really liked how easy it was to use the controls. There were only 5 settings to use and each one worked like they were supposed to.
