About Nectar

Nectar is a brand of mattresses that was launched back in 2016. Despite it being a new player on the mattress scene in the US, it grew and expanded like wildfire, registering revenue of $315 million back in 2018.

According to the 2019 Top 1000 Analysis Report, in 2018 Nectar was the fastest-growing e-commerce retailer in the entire North America. The company was founded by Ran Reske, Eric Hutchinson, and Craig Schmeizer.

Mattresses Produced

Nectar delivers a single memory foam mattress, with a firmness level that places it at the center of the segment, being neither too plush, nor too firm.

Materials Used

Despite its very convenient price, the Nectar mattress has a lot of aces up its sleeve, including the construction which combines different technologies for an improved sleeping experience. The cover is made with Tencel, looking to keep you cool throughout the entire night.

Underneath it lies a thin layer of quilted gel memory foam, which adds a bit more comfort, but also an extra breathability measure, to combat some of that heat retention that memory foam mattresses usually have. Then, there is a regular gel memory foam layer, which doubles as a contouring layer.

Right above the sturdy base layer lies a block of adapted memory foam, which is meant to add great support and bounce to the mattress. The foam used in the construction of the Nectar mattress is CertiPUR-US® Certified, meeting the required standards.

Mattress Production

While Nectar is an American company, their mattresses are manufactured in China. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint back in the spring of 2018, claiming that the company falsely led buyers to believe that their product were of American original.

Since the final assembly of the product doesn’t take place on American land, and neither of the components is of US origin, the correct terminology for their products should be “Nectar mattress made in China”.

However, these complaints have not affected Nectar mattress sales in any way, as the revenue in 2018 is impressive, to say the least. Thousands of happy customers can still vouch for the quality of the Nectar mattress, regardless of its provenance.

Warranty & Return Policy

The warranty of the Nectar mattress has a very impressive system, which they refer to as the “forever warranty”. For the first ten years since you first bought your Nectar, the company vouches to replace it free of charge if it shows and material or workmanship defects.

After the first ten years have passed, they will repair or replace your Nectar mattress without charging you any shipping fees, if the defect noticed has anything to do with low quality of materials or a faulty manufacturing.

Warranty is everything when making an online purchase, because people have been skeptic about this entire concept for way too long. Some still find it hard to imagine having to buy a mattress without testing it. But here is when the return policy comes into play.

The first thing that you have to know about the Nectar’s return policy is that you get 365 nights of free trial. It is one of the best trial periods in the industry, and one that proves Nectar stands by the quality of its products.

That being said, you have one year to decide if you want the Nectar or not, and can return it for a refund during this entire time. Just make sure that mattress has been kept in good shape.

Price Range

The Nectar mattress is, by far, one of the most affordable memory foam beds on the market at this moment. Those of you interested in buying one will pay around $499 for the Twin size, but the price can go as high as $1,099 for a Cal King.

Nectar also sells different “add ons”, for those who are interested in buying a more complete bedding set. You can add a mattress protector for a little under $100, a pair of Nectar sheets for $144, a weighted blanket that costs around $169, or a platform bed for $275.

Availability

The Nectar mattress is available for purchase both online and offline. Online, you can find the mattress on Nectar’s official websites, but also on other major online retailer websites, such as Amazon.

Nectar is available in regular stores as well, which are scattered all across the US, so finding a store close to you is very likely. In 2019, Nectar started a partnership with Mattress Warehouse, so their offline presence is stronger than ever.

Shipping Availability

The Nectar mattress only ships within the US perimeter, so international fans will have to redirect their attention towards another mattress brand. Nectar doesn’t change any shipping fees for items delivered in the contiguous United States, but does not deliver items to location such as Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands.  For deliveries to Hawaii and Alaska, Nectar will charge a $150 shipping fee.

However, Nectar does also provide products for their United Kingdom buyers, as they also have an official UK website for those interested in the Nectar mattress. There are no shipping feed for mainland UK, but there is an additional charge of £80 for Northern Ireland and Scottish Highlands. There is also a £100 fee for those ordering from Channel Islands and UK Islands.

Brand Popularity

One of the strongest points about the Nectar mattress has to be its generous trial period. With most mattress manufacturers, you get a 100 night sleep trial, a maximum of 120 from companies who are feeling particularly generous. But Nectar offers 365 nights for you to decide if the mattress is right for.

Another thing that brings mattress to the front of the line in a sea drowning with mattresses is the competitive price tag. It is known that memory foam mattresses are typically more affordable compared to a hybrid, for example, but buying a good mattress for less than $1,000 seems like a true bargain.
