Overview
The founder of Eight Sleep, Matteo Franceschetti, wanted to create a mattress that would revive everyone to their energy peak each morning. The goal was an innovative mattress that provided the best rest. With this in mind, Eight Sleep became one of the most innovative companies and were awarded the best invention’s award in 2018.
Products and Materials
There are two mattresses sold by Eight Sleep; The Pod and the Smart Bed.
The Pod
The Pod has an active grid design that relieves pressure points, regulates the temperature of the bed, and tracks your biometrics while you sleep. A hub core comes with the mattress which powers the Pod while sleeping. To control all the functions of the mattress, you can connect the bed to your phone. It has four layers of adaptive foams and a perfect medium on the firmness scale.
This mattress relieves pressure points and creates maximum air flow. The quality materials used to make this mattress include polyester, cotton, and high-density foams. It consumes 110-240 VAC and can regulate temperatures between 55-115o F.
Smart Bed
The Smart Bed starts off with a Smart cover, the sensory layer of the mattress. The responsive foam helps support your back and hip while providing you with a medium firmness sleep surface. The transitional foam minimizes the movements between one another. Once connected, your phone can track your sleep, control the temperature on individual sides of the bed, and become a smart alarm to wake you up.
Prices
The Smart Bed comes in four different sizes; Full, Queen, King, and Cal King.
- The full-sized Smart Bed mattress costs $995. If you want a simple foundation alongside, then it’s an additional $250. Another $125 will include a waterproof protector. Altogether, it’s a payment of $1370.
- The queen-sized mattress costs $1095 on its own. The simple foundation costs $275, and the waterproof protector costs $125. Together, it’s a grand total of $1495.
- The king and Cal king sizes are the same prices, only there is no option for a waterproof protector with the Cal king sized mattress. The mattress is priced at $1295, the simple foundation is $325, and the waterproof protector is $135.
The Pod
The Pod is a more expensive model than the Smart Bed. It comes in the same available sizes as the Smart Bed and does not have any additional purchases.
- The full-sized bed is priced at $1935
- The queen-sized bed is priced at $2135
- Both the king and the Cal king bed size are priced at $2435
Warranty and Returns
Eight Sleep offers a 100-day trial on all mattresses to see if your mattress is right for you or not. To receive a full refund, you must return all parts of the bed.
The warranty will cover any defects or flaws noticed in the workmanship of the mattress. Any deterioration of the foam not through natural causes will also be looked at under the warranty policy. Natural wear and tear or damages caused after purchase and shipping will not be looked over under the warranty. All shipping fees must be paid by the customer.
Shipping information
Shipping is not free with your purchase from Eight Sleep. It is only free if you are returning your product. The full refund you receive if you return your mattress does not include the primary shipping fee you had to pay upon receiving the mattress. If you are shipping the mattress back for repairs and replacements, you will have to pay for the shipping costs.

Why is this item only rated at a one out of 5 stars when all of the reviews for show 3 stars or higher? In addition all the reviews really only go into detail on the smart mattress and not the pod. Is this a mistake or a show a bias really been looking to get some actual feedback on this product because I think it might be able to help me because I sleep very hot and my wife does not.
