Newpoint Home Deluxe 250 Thread Count Cotton Damask Stripe Queen Mattress Pad Video Review

Presenting the Product

The Newpoint promises to provide year round comfort with its quilted top, but also offer a hypoallergenic mattress pad that protects your bed. It’s equipped with stretchy sides that fit some of the thicker mattresses and can even cover a hefty pillow top.

Compared to other pads and toppers I’ve tested, this one sits somewhere in the middle. It’s not super supportive but it is made really well and helps protect my bed like a protector would.

This is a great product for someone looking for an inexpensive solution to smooth out the surface of an old mattress or hoping to protect a new one. It’s definitely not for anyone searching for extra support. This does not have that.

Features & Benefits

After testing it out, I’ve made note of all the different features and broken them down for you to consider. My experience may be different from someone else’s, and what’s good for me may not be good for others.

Construction

The Newpoint is constructed from 100% cotton on the outside and a polyester fill inside. The stitching is done in a tight quilted pattern and holds up pretty good. The white fabric has a slight damask stripe pattern in it which makes it slightly more stylish than other pads like it. The sides are made from a stretchy material that easily fit over my super thick pillow top mattress.

It’s got a 250 thread count which is not the best but it’s still pretty decent. If you want a pad that’s well made and fits just about any mattress, then this is a good choice.

Comfort

The company claims that it’s designed to protect your bed but also to provide extra comfort. It has about an inch of polyester fill, but I found it made no difference to the level of comfort my bed had. I actually didn’t really enjoy my sleep on the Newpoint, so I’d say it’s not really designed for comfort, regardless of what they say.

Now, I’m a back sleeper, so it wasn’t so bad. But I was expecting a little more cushion than what I got. However, it was thick enough to smooth out the surface of my mattress, reducing the lumps that the pattern underneath can sometimes have.

If you’re looking for added support, this is not for you. Especially if you’re a side sleeper. But if you want to just improve the quality of a lumpy mattress then it’s great.

What’s Promised

It promises to be a totally hypoallergenic pad that’s easy to clean. It definitely delivers in those areas. The pad is well made and really is good for those who suffer from household dust allergies.

The easy to clean part is somewhat true. I’ll touch more on that in a later section.

Heat Retention

I found to run a little warm at night with this pad. It held a lot of heat and didn’t release very fast. I think it was something to do with the top material, the stiff cotton layer. It sucked all my heat in and it pooled underneath me all night long. I ended up having to just remove all the blankets in order to find relief.

So, if you’re looking for something that’s going to keep you warm at night, this is a winner for sure! But if you prefer to sleep cool, like myself, then this pad is not a great choice.

Maintenance, Protection, Care and Warranty

Like a lot of products purchased online, the Newpoint doesn’t really have much of a warranty. There’s the standard 30 day guarantee from the third party seller, but that’s all I could find. The actual product doesn’t come with any warranty info in the package, either. With that being said, for the price, and the decent quality, I probably won’t need it.

Maintenance and protection are pretty straight forward. It’s machine washable in cold water and on a light cycle. Don’t use any heavy detergents. You can dry it in the dryer, but use a low heat for delicates and the backing has been known to fuse together.

I actually hung mine outside on the line to air dry and then tumbled in the dryer on low for ten minutes. I found this to be an awesome way to do it. But not everyone will have access to a clothesline. You could use an indoor one if you had the space, however.

How Easy Are Returns

Because I couldn’t; find any real warranty info, details on returns were hard to find. But I did look at what some reviewers said and they ended up going through the third party seller which they purchased it from. There seems to be a bit of a hassle with some, so I don’t’ know if I would even bother getting a return if the problem ever arose.

Consumer Feedback

I scoured the internet to find the best and worst of customer feedback on the Newpoint. Here’s what I found.

Durability

Everyone found it to be really durable and it holds up well during use. The stitching is well done and the sides are thicker, unlike some pads where the sides tear and get runs like panty hose.

This opinion changed, however, after some users washed it. They may very well have went against the instructions, or had the heat too high in the dryer. Who knows? I didn’t have a problem with washing, though.

Odor

No one really had much to say about the odor. It has very little smell upon opening, and I suspect that’s because it’s hypoallergenic and mostly made from cotton.

Customer Support

There was a lot of poor reviews. A ton of online buyers claimed that customer support is non-existent, but they were able to contact someone from the third party seller. So at least there’s that.

Feedback on its Features

Everyone liked the stretching, thick sides and I have to agree. No matter how well the top is made, if the sides are cheap and rip, then the pad is toast.

Conclusion

All in all, for the low cost of this pad, I would say it’s a good product. I was impressed with the quality and it served the purpose of padding my mattress. But, if you’re someone looking for extra support and something that will keep you cool at night, move on. This is not the item for you. But if you’re in the market for a simple mattress pad that will smooth out your bed, hold in your heat and keep you super warm, and is cost efficient then you’ve found it.
