Making the Most of the Hybrid Mattress

The Casper Wave is an all-foam hybrid mattress. By utilizing different material types, companies are able to mask aspects that aren’t so great like the sinky feeling of memory foam. On the other hand, they’re able to accentuate the better qualities like the natural bounce offered by latex.

Casper offers a layer combination in the comfort zone that I have always found to be an excellent combination every time I’ve come across it. When you marry latex and memory foam, you:

  • Add bounce to avoid the sinky feel of memory foam
  • Provide the contour that memory foam is known for

Although I have seen this layer combination in other products, Casper was the first company to use it. This really goes to show how innovative their advanced research and development team is.

Excellence in Pressure Point Relief

There are areas of the body, specifically the shoulders and hips, that carry the most weight. Because of this, it’s common to experience increased pressure in these areas. The Casper Wave took this into consideration in the design of this product. As you transition from the comfort to the support zone in the layer construction, there are 36 to 38 polymer channel inserts.

These inserts provide Hyper Targeted Support™ that works to relieve these pressure points. Although this product is slightly firmer than a medium product, it’s able to do a better job than most firmer products at facilitating side sleeping due to this strategic innovation. It also helps promote proper spinal alignment. Considering you spend a third of your life in bed, it’s clear this can do a lot for your overall ergonomic health.

Casper Wave Mattress Overview

— Firmness

A medium mattress tends to cater toward the majority of shoppers. However, they can often be a bit too plush for those who carry a lot of weight. For those who do, a firmer mattress is typically more accommodating, and this is where the Casper Wave falls on the firmness spectrum.

Keep in mind that the Wave isn’t extremely firm. In our full review, we’ll be testing this product and comparing it to a standard medium to show you just how much firmer it is. The firmness of the Wave is most accommodating for heavier people as well as back and stomach sleepers.

— Responsiveness and Bounce

Due to the clever layer combination, the Casper Wave has excellent bounce back. This is largely due to the layer of latex found in the comfort zone. This material is well-known for its responsiveness, and it helps aid in this regard considering the use of memory foam below it.
