Best Rize Adjustable Bed Reviews

Corey Majeau

Despite the popularity that adjustable bases have gained over the recent years, it can be a challenge to find a brand that manages to provide all the essentials for the average consumer. Some offer more adjustability, some have better pricing, some have better massaging units, but in most cases, none are able to satisfy in every regard.

Rize is one brand that attempts to remedy this dilemma by incorporating key features in all their products (even the cheap models), in addition to the staple head and foot articulation. The result is a range of adjustable beds that feel complete even when you don’t break your wallet to get them!

Here’s my opinion about the brand, and I’ve included choice Rize adjustable bed reviews to give you an accurate idea of what they exactly offer.

Top-Rated Rize Adjustable Bed Reviews

1. Rize Up – Editor's Choice

Highlights

  • Inexpensive
  • Improved lift capacity of 850 lbs.
  • Simple, no-frills design
  • Includes Gravity Release and Battery Backup features despite budget nature
  • Adjustable height

Pros

  • Inexpensive
  • High-capacity twin-motors for reliable operation
  • Simple, no-frills design
  • Includes Gravity Release and Battery Backup features despite budget nature
  • Adjustable height
  • 20-year warranty

Cons

  • Wired remote control hinders usage in bed
  • No extra amenities or wall-hugging system

Sporting a no-nonsense design with visible metal legs and dull white borders for the platform, the Elevation makes no effort to hide its budget-oriented nature. However, despite its low cost, the Up still has Rize’s signature twin high-capacity, 850 lbs. motors to power the motion of the head and foot platforms.

The motion is controlled by a wired remote, which isn’t very surprising given the small asking price of the Up. That said, as noted in the previous section, the bed still has essential safety features such as the Gravity Release and Battery Backup which increase its value compared to similarly priced competitors.

There isn’t much beyond that, other than the fact that you can modify the height of the bed in small increments (to get a better fit within your existing bed frame or to make it easier to get in and out of bed for a patient); or that you can control two bases simultaneously with a single remote control (in case you and your partner want occasional independence and occasional sharing) using a pairing cord.

The Up is one of Rize’s lower end products, offering basic head and foot adjustment to consumers on a budget.

2. Rize Remedy II

Highlights

  • Reasonably-priced
  • Five pre-programmed positions
  • Lounge feature for relaxing the legs and lower back
  • Therapeutic massage feature for R & R, despite (relatively) modest asking price
  • Includes essential safety systems
  • 20-year warranty

Pros

  • Reasonably priced
  • Five pre-programmed positions
  • Lounge feature for relaxing the legs and lower back
  • Therapeutic massage feature for R & R, despite (relatively) modest asking price
  • Includes essential safety systems
  • Under-bed lighting
  • 20-year warranty

Cons

  • No power outlets

Despite retaining the simplistic platform design of the cheaper Up, the Remedy II stands apart by including more features ‘under the hood’. For one, the bed has five pre-programmed programs, which means you can easily achieve the exact position you want depending on what you’re doing.

Secondly, it uses a wireless remote to control platform adjustments as well as the therapeutic massage system intended to relax your sore muscles (usually found in much pricier offerings). The remote also lets you set the bed up in a continuous motion mode, causing it to gradually transition through all the possible positions.

The Remedy I includes the important safety mechanisms of Battery Backup and Gravity Release, and it even features under-bed lighting to prevent stumbling during late-night bathroom trips. These features create a truly balanced mid-ground between low-end and high-end offerings at a very reasonable price.

The Remedy II is a mid-tier base intended for consumers who want a bit of luxury in addition to the standard adjustment functionality.

3. Rize Aviada

Highlights

  • Reasonably priced for a high-end adjustable bed
  • True inversion positioning
  • Enhanced massage
  • Dual USB power outlets to juice up your electronics
  • Stylish, hidden-component design blends well with contemporary décor and keeps unsightly cords blocked from view
  • 20-year warranty

Pros

  • Reasonably priced for a high-end adjustable bed
  • True inversion positioning
  • Enhanced massage
  • Dual USB power outlets for charging devices
  • Hidden-component design blends well with contemporary décor and keeps unsightly cords blocked from view
  • 20-year warranty

Cons

  • No smartphone app, disappointing for a high-end product

Packing Rize’s high-capacity motors, the bed offers smooth adjustment of your head and foot positions via a wireless remote control. This model also features true inversion positioning so you’re also able to enjoy full spinal stretch.

The Aviada comes with a relaxing, enhanced massage system that is also controlled via the remote control. Other enhancements include under-the-bed-lighting and dual USB power outlets. All safety features that I’ve described above are included in the product.

Despite the advanced features offered by the Aviada, it is still considerably more affordable than other products in its league.

With its stylish design, understated light-blue coloring, and augmented features, the Aviada is a great choice for people who want an adjustable bed for transforming their bedroom into a luxury hotel room.

Core Features of Rize Adjustable Bases

• High Capacity Electric Motors

While many reputed adjustable brands advertise an 850 lbs lift capacity for their products, I have yet to come across one other than Rize that openly declares that this number has been verified through testing from a certified lab.

These motors are responsible for the head and foot positioning that is the primary function of an adjustable unit, and it is nice to see a manufacturer that has taken concrete steps to ensure reliability in this department.

Pillow Articulation

Furthermore, higher-end models have an extra head-tilt (a.k.a. pillow-tilt) mechanism that lets you customize the angle of support for your neck independently from the basic head and foot adjustments.

Wall-Glide Mechanism

This is Rize’s implementation of the wall-hugging feature that is often advertised in high-end adjustable bases. It adjusts your head angle whilst simultaneously pushing the platform closer to the wall so that you stay within reach of your nightstand regardless of the elevation you assume.

A nice feature to have if you use your nightstand to hold your smartphone, books, or medicines that you may need to use whilst in bed.

Remote Control

For most mid-to-high-end models, a backlit wireless remote is used to control the head and foot positions, as with the massager, the under-bed light, and other features. The manufacturer has included three pre-programmed positions: zero gravity, lounge, and anti-snore.

Some cheaper models use a wired remote instead, which is inconvenient, but hey, at least you won’t end up misplacing it that easily!

Amenities

Dual-Zone Massage

Rize beds come with dual massage motors- one for the head and one for the feet. Both massagers can be operated independently of each other, with the remote letting you specify intensities and wave types.

Lounge Position

Besides standard head and foot platform manipulation, certain Rize beds also come with a special ‘Lounge’ feature that lowers the leg portion and creates a Chaise-like position that alleviates strain on your lower back.

Underbed LED Light

An LED under the bed can be activated from the remote control which creates a halo that can help you navigate your bedroom during the night whilst getting in or out of bed.

Power outlets

Rize has built AC power outlets on the sides of their bases (on one side if the bed is of a single-person size and on both sides if it’s a two-person bed). The advantage that an AC outlet has over a USB port is that you can hook a power adapter into it. It has multiple types of outlets on the other side, so you can power up your smartphone as well as any other electronic device that would otherwise not go into a USB port.

Safety Mechanisms

Gravity Release

One concern with using an adjustable foundation in a house with pets or kids is that they may end up hurting themselves by getting in the way of the frame while it is being transformed via the electric motors. Rize does away with this risk with their Gravity Release feature which reduces the pressure from objects under the bed.

Overload Protection

The motors’ control unit is designed to turn off if they are made to lift a load greater than their capacity. It resumes operation thirty seconds after the excessive load has been removed from the affected mechanism (head or foot).

Auto Shut Off

Massage motors turn off automatically for 5 minutes or after every 15 minutes of use to conserve electricity and maximize their lifetime.

Battery Backup

It isn’t especially likely to have your adjustable bed stuck in an inclined position due to a mechanical failure or a power out, but it is still possible. Those who are buying an adjustable unit for healthcare reasons have to consider this small possibility too though.

Rize has taken this demographic of consumers into account by incorporating a backup battery system in all of their adjustable bases. This feature keeps supplying the bed with juice even after a power outage, so you can get it back to the default flat position to allow for at least the basic use of the bed while you wait for the fault to be corrected.

If you’re taking care of a critical patient, you may want to consider investing in an emergency generator or UPS system.

Warranty

A 20-year limited warranty is included with Rize adjustable foundations. For the first 5 years, this policy provides full coverage of parts, labor, and transportation so you don’t have to pay anything to get a fault fixed- provided it falls under the warranty. For the next 15 years, only defects in the frame are covered and not those in the electronic/electrical components.

This is a highly generous warranty policy where the manufacturer has placed a considerable amount of liability on their shoulders: other brands that I’ve covered normally offer only a 3-year warranty on parts with the first year also covering labor costs.

By providing coverage for parts and labors for five years, Rize has indirectly conveyed more confidence in their product line than other brands have in theirs.

Spare Parts

A praiseworthy aspect of Rize’s marketing is that they sell replacement parts for their adjustable bases directly and have devoted an entire section of the website to it. This is a much more refined approach to providing replacements to consumers outside of the warranty coverage since it eliminates the need for them to make long calls to tech support.

Basically, when you want a replacement part that is no longer covered by a warranty, you order it straight from the website.

Issues

No supplementary programmable buttons on remote control

One minor issue with the remote control is that it doesn’t have any supplementary buttons that you can program with your own custom positions. It’s a bit odd since most other competitors even include a couple of programmable buttons in their lowest-end models, but it’s no more than a slight inconvenience (unless you’re extremely impatient!).

No smartphone app

Most high-end brands tend to offer a smartphone app that can, at the very least, be used to adjust the head and foot panels. This is not the case with Rize, and it is disappointing, particularly in the top models, given how much they try to cover everything else. That said, it is definitely not a make-or-break feature for the average user, except perhaps for those who want a hi-tech adjustable unit for the sake of it.

No mattress gripping feature

This is a trivial complaint to me personally, but for those who prioritize presentation and décor, it may be a bigger deal: Rize mattresses lack the ‘hidden’ mattress-gripping feature that is present in most high-end adjustable beds under one name or another.

Rize beds have conventional steel retainers instead, which, despite being reliable, do tend to stick out.

Conclusion

Having gone through my Rize adjustable bed base reviews, you will hopefully agree that the manufacturer does indeed incorporate a number of innovative features in select models of its product line and that all of its products are equipped with functions that actively improve the lifetime of the product and prevent damage to itself (as well as others) because of reckless handling.

That said, there are some questionable feature choices (possibly stemming from budget constraints) that made the Rize look ‘rougher around the edges’ (not literally) as compared to some competitors. If you’re willing to look past the lack of extra programmable buttons and a smartphone app though, Rize beds pack a lot of functionality for the price they ask.

For me personally, the best Rize adjustable bed would have to be the Remedy II: its construction gives it a modern, almost sci-fi appeal that I enjoy personally but, more importantly, the pre-programmed positioning makes it convenient at a very reasonable price.

Beyond this, it contains all the requisite bells and whistles (with the exception of a power outlet) that make for a high-end product, plus caster legs for a rapid and convenient portability. If you’re looking for a feature-rich modern adjustable base that has both refined back support and luxury, this one should definitely be on your list of contenders.
