Your bedroom is one of the most important spaces in your home, and it is important to keep the energy in it conducive to a good night’s rest.

It should be a space that offers a sanctuary to truly relax and rejuvenate in, which is why keeping your work and other serious materials out of it is important. You can also add things to your bedroom to help influence a better night’s rest. Lighting, temperature control, natural oil diffusion, and even natural stones and crystals work to provide a better atmosphere.

But, if you are considering the addition of anything to your room, you should first research whether you are truly helping, or possibly hindering the restful experience. Take a look at which crystals or stones you should avoid, and which might be best for your overall needs.

Why Place Crystals in the Bedroom?

If placing crystals in your room is something new, you want to consider the fact that all minerals and crystalline structures are highly ordered and vibrate at various frequencies that affect the space around it.

Crystals are considered by cultures around the world to provide various healing and therapeutic potentials. The energy they offer can work to help you rest or provide more energy and overstimulation than expected.

Different people may react differently to the same crystals as well, which is why researching their uses in advance is important to avoid further disruption of your sleep.

Which Crystals are Best?

Crystals that work with calming energies and bedroom needs include howlite, moonstone, rose and smoky quartz, tiger’s eye, and selenite. This doesn’t mean you should add all of them to your space. Rather, using only one or two at a time at most is considered the best way to avoid poor crystal pairings or overwhelming energies.

Rose quartz works to balance emotions and encourage healing hearts. It is a calming, warm stone that offers peace and relaxation.

Smoky quartz offers a protective energy that works to absorb heavy energies and provides a protective healing. If you suffer from nightmares and anxiety, this can help you find stability.

—Tiger’s Eye

The energy provided by Tiger’s Eye works to energize your sex life. It works to provide confidence and personal power, but you may want to avoid having it around if sleep is what you desire.

— Selenite

Selenite is named after the Greek Goddess of the moon and is helpful to enhance emotional healing and protection. This soothing stone promotes peace and calming and is a good choice to help you relax after a long day of work.

Although no crystal is truly damaging, many have strong energy. When you want to relax this can be a disrupting force and work against sleep, rather than for it. The following stones and crystals may need to be kept out of your bedroom to help influence a better sleep.

Amethysts are powerful options that help negate negative energy and provide support for intuitive thought. But, it is a high-vibration choice that influences thinking, which can be counter productive to rest.

— Turquoise

Turquoise is a token of strength and wisdom and is used for courage. However, its influences are not conducive to sleep and relaxation, but rather action and focus.

— Citrine

Citrine is empowering and focuses on self-confidence and assertiveness. This is an active crystal that is counter productive to sleep.

— Lapis Lazuli

Lapis offers confidence and promotes strong speaking abilities. Although calming, it is an energy directed towards active thought and speech which is difficult to balance with rest and relaxation.

— Chrysocolla

A woman’s stone, the Chrysocolla is a power supporting vibration that enhances communication, empowerment, and learning. Stimulating the mind, it is not a calming option for rest.

— Moldavite

The strong energy of this crystal works to enhance spiritual healing. It helps you deal with and heal from painful emotions, which is not a relaxation technique for bedtime.

— Clear Quartz

Clear quartz has long been used to provide a steady flow of energy and positivity. It works to clean out negative vibes but can be highly stimulating – which interferes with rest.

— Tiger’s Eye

Although Tiger’s Eye is a bedroom choice, it is not a sleep or calming option due to the fact that it promotes sexuality and prowess in bed. If sleep is your need, avoid having it in the room.

Crystal Pairings to Avoid

Some crystals are excellent on their own, but when placed with another may be negated or even at odds concerning what it offers. Avoid placing the best crystals for the bedroom with any crystals on the list of avoidance. These crystal energies may cancel each other out or even create confusing thoughts or energies as they vie for attention.

What NOT to do With Bedroom Crystals

Just like you should avoid pairing certain crystals with one another, you also want to avoid having multiple crystals all in one area – even if they provide similar energies. You don’t want to inadvertently cancel out properties or overwhelm your senses. Also, avoid the following to keep energy flows in harmony::

  • Don’t store crystals under your bed
  • Large crystals should be kept on a shelf for overall room vibration and not too close to the head of your bed
  • Never point the “crystal point” directly at your head
  • Avoid standing points or pyramid shaped crystals near the bed
