Sunbeam Quilted Heated Mattress Pad with EasySet Pro Controller

Our Rating: (8.8 / Out Of 10)

Sick of climbing into a cold bed at night? I don’t blame you. I’m from New York and even at the end of May it’s still cold at night and my bed is freezing. It’s really hard to find a product that’s both reliable and affordable. You either get a reliable product that costs an arm and a leg or an affordable product that only lasts a few months. I came across one of those rare products that was both. I want to share with you my experience is the Sunbeam Quilted Pad. I had a chance to test this out for myself and I was overly impressed.

Breakdown Of The Sunbeam Quilted Heated Mattress Pad

The Sunbeam Quilted Heated Mattress pad is just one product from a line of different heated units. The brand has been offering families innovative products that have made lives simpler for many generations and has been a trusted name for over 100 years. One of their products is this heated mattress pad. It features 5 ounces of fill, fits up to 18 inch mattresses, has a 140 thread count and dual zone control for individualized comfort levels.

This pad comes equipped with two convenient EasySet Pro controllers that feature 10 heat settings and a convenient 10-hour auto-off function. This is something that would come in handy for those who may forget to turn it off on occasion. Along with this, there’s also the ThermoFine technology senses that adjust the heat to give you consistent warmth as you’re in bed.

This type of mattress pad is ideal for those who suffer from muscle and joint pain or just like a warm and toasty bed. However, I this product is not recommended to individuals who cannot operate the controls properly, small children and infants, those with certain disabilities, and those who may not be able to understand the directions.

Features & Benefits

Okay, so I’m well aware of the products that Sunbeam has to offer. I’ve owned a few of their heaters and whatnot and they all seemed to work well. So testing their heated mattress pad was quite a treat for me. Their product was wrapped nicely in a handy carrying bag along with all of the accessories.

The first thing that I noticed about the product were the controllers. They were much different than some of the other ones that I have seen. They have little rubber grips on the bottom of them so that they aren’t sliding around while you’re sleeping or trying to change the settings on them. The settings are also very easy to see since they light up when in use. You have 10 settings to choose from and a 10-hour auto shutoff feature incase you forget to turn it off in the morning.

Sunbeam praises its ThermoFine technology, which is supposed to sense and adjust accordingly to give you consistent warmth as you sleep. This warming system monitors your body temperature and the temperature of your bed and room. It uses this information to alter the warmth of the product to ensure you aren’t overheating or becoming uncomfortably warm. It uses the patented PTC or Positive Temperature Coefficient sensing capability to do this.

Construction

This heated mattress pad is constructed with a 145 thread count 100% polyester material and 5 ounces of fill inside of it. This ensures that you aren’t feeling any of those wires and also gives you a small amount of fluff for your comfort. You’ll notice that it’s sewn in a vertical pattern, which gives it an attractive quilted look.

At the foot of the pad, there are connectors for the controllers. I wasn’t too impressed with the placement of these because of how bulky they are. My foot seemed to constantly rub against it, so I had to turn it around and move the connectors to the head of the bed. Compared to some of the other ones that I had tested, this one gave me the most trouble with the location of the connectors.

Around the pad itself, you’ll find a fitted sheet type of material to keep it from slipping and sliding all over the place. There was a lot of give with this, so it could probably fit a really deep mattress. If you have a mattress that is only a few inches thick, you may find the pad will move around because of the loose fit.

Setup Quick Tip: When setting this up, it’s best that you don’t place the wires in between your mattress and box spring because it could damage them. You can run them down the side of your bed or under it. You can also either place the connector ends at the bottom of your feet or head of the bed, whichever is more comfortable for you.

Heating Features

For the larger sizes, such as Queen and King, you will get dual controllers. This means that each side has its own heat controls, making it easier for you and your partner to reach your own level of warmth without disturbing the other. It’s suggested that you start it off on the high setting and lower it from there to get the best outcome. Certain levels of warmth can help with different kinds of muscle and body aches-you have 10 to choose from.

One of my favorite things about these controllers is that they have little rubber-like feet on the bottom of them. This keeps them from slipping while you’re trying to turn the knob in the middle of the night.

This brings me to my other favorite feature-the lit up numbers. The numbers light up upon use for better reading in the middle of the night. This heating pad has one thing that none of the others had, which is the ThermoFine technology. This technology senses your body heat, the temperature of the room and the temperature of the bed. It then adjusts itself to deliver consistent warmth to avoid overheating. I can say that I didn’t find myself overheating, which is a good sign that the heating pad was working the way it was supposed to.

Comfort

In terms of comfort, I have to say that this heating pad worked rather well. When I was laying on it, I couldn’t feel any of the wires. Some heated mattress pads have wires so think that it’s almost impossible to get comfortable or to hide them. This product was much different. I could also feel consistent warmth throughout the entire pad, meaning I didn’t feel any cold or hot spots.

The whole mattress pad is very soft and fluffy, thanks to that 5 ounces of filling. It does a very good job of making those wires discrete and it adds a little extra fluff so that you aren’t just laying on a pad of wires. I didn’t notice any noise when I moved around on it and it stayed put quite well on my bed, however, I do have a rather deep mattress.

The heat that comes from this product is very comforting. I do have quite a bit of aches and pains by the time I get into bed at night and this mattress pad did a very good job of soothing them with just a few turns of a knob.

Protection

When it comes to protection, it might not do everything that traditional mattress pads can do, but it does have that 10-hour auto shutoff feature for your own protection. It can also help keep your mattress clean and it can keep as much dirt and dander out of it as possible. Your mattress, no matter how old or new, is something that you should keep taking care of, even if it’s just by using one of these heated mattress pads.
