Customization
Most MADs offer some type of customization to allow the product to fit the unique shape of your mouth. In this case, we’ll be using the very popular boil and bite method. You’ll need:
- A pot to boil water
- A container large enough to submerge the device
- A timer
- Your SnoreMeds mouthpiece and the included spatula
The customization process includes six simple steps as follows:
1. Place the mouthpiece upright and insert the spatula into the holes in the front. This product is unique in that you set the lower jaw advancement when you mold, so you’re gonna want to practice moving your jaw forward before you do so.
Personally, I wasn’t much of a fan of this method because, if you don’t get it right, you have to remold, and repeating this process decreases the plastic’s integrity. In fact, for this product, you can only perform the molding process twice. However, it is effective in helping you get a fit that feels right to you while some products don’t allow for any customization in advancement. Everyone is different, but you usually want to aim for a lower jaw advancement of around three to five millimeters.
2. Boil your water and pour it into your bowl.
3. Use the spatula to place the mouthpiece in the water for 15 to 18 seconds. It will appear clear when it’s ready.
4. Standing in front of a mirror, place the mouthpiece in your mouth with the spatula, placing your lower jaw in first and then your upper jaw carefully into position.
5. Move your lower jaw forward three to five millimeters and bite down firmly. Use your fingers to press against the outside of the mouthpiece from front to back.
Use your tongue to push against the back of the mouthpiece to suck out air for a tight fit. The product will be soft and easy to mold, so don’t be scared to bite down firmly to ensure a good impression.
6. Once you’ve got your impression, place the device in cold water to set it.
Product Stopped the Snoring, but Problem with Fitting
I like that this product is very flexible, and it features a small design compared to other products out there. I found this to make it easy to fit in my mouth. However, my sleep partner has a larger jaw, and he found that it slipped out easily. I think this could be a problem for male snorers.
I was surprised because SnoreMeds has sizes for men and women, and this product is clearly marked as the Original Fit for men, so we expected it to be designed for larger jaws. You can see a side-by-side comparison of me wearing the SnoreMeds device and a comparable product and clearly see that I have a hard time keeping my mouth closed with the competitor. This same product worked much better with Michael’s jaw.

I think the men’s option is more suitable for female snorers, although I suppose it’s possible SnoreMeds accidentally put a female device in a box intended for a male.
The good news is that, when the product was in place, it did succeed in putting a stop to Michael’s snoring, but it fell out a lot. On the other hand, I was able to keep this device in all night without a problem. In terms of comfort, Michael reported that he experienced jaw pain that was a little more intense than other products, and I suspect this could be due to the fact that it was such a tight fit for him. However, as is typically the case, your jaw does adjust to the discomfort. In Michael’s case, the pain ceased after five nights of use. The product also features two small holes on the front to facilitate mouth breathing.
Maintenance & Cleaning Tips
Of course, you want to make the most of your purchase, and this requires proper cleaning. It’s pretty easy, but it’s up to you to keep maintenance consistent. Your SnoreMeds mouthpiece can be cleaned using toothpaste, mouthwash, or denture cleaner.
The manufacturer recommends using the molding spatula as you clean. Since this device is so smooth with very few crevices, I found cleaning to be very easy. It’s best to clean it after each use and make sure you dry it completely before storing in the included anti-bacterial carrying case.

The SnoreMeds mouthpiece isn’t for everyone. For starters, it’s not recommended for use by those who wear dentures or braces. You’ll definitely want to consult with your physician before use if you have unhealthy gums or teeth. This is also true if you have obstructive sleep apnea. In our case, Michael did talk to his doctor, and he gave us the green light, but everybody’s unique.
