Snore Eliminator Pro 2.0

Snoring. It’s one of those inconvenient truths we don’t much like to talk about. However, whether you’re the snorer or the sleep partner of one, you realize that it has a much more negative impact on health and quality of life than we like to let on.

The good news is that you don’t have to suffer forever. In fact, there are hundreds of anti-snoring devices on the market, and we recently bought several of them to get an idea how they work and whether or not they prove successful in putting a stop to snoring.

Today, we’re gonna take a look at the Eliminator Pro 2.0. This is a mandibular advancement device that works to pull your lower jaw forward to open up the airway that’s blocked when snoring occurs. This happens when the muscles relax and the tongue and soft tissue fall backward.

We’re not doctors here at The Sleep Judge, but my sleep partner has been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, so we know a thing or two about snoring. Let’s see how this worked out for us and give you the information you need to decide if it might do the same for you.

How is Eliminator Pro 2.0 Different than Athletic Mouthguards?

The Eliminator Pro 2.0 does look quite a bit like an athletic mouthguard. However, they are very different. This product is made from two types of high-quality plastics:

  • Outer hard plastic
  • Inner soft plastic

The softer plastic on the inside offers rigidity that prevents the product from causing discomfort. Furthermore, when it comes to athletic mouthpieces, the primary purpose is to avoid injury. However, the Eliminator Pro 2.0 has a different purpose – to keep your lower jaw in an advanced position through the night.

A Walk Through the Customization Process

As with many MADs, Eliminator Pro 2.0 is customizable using the common boil and bite method. If you’re worried about the size of the product being too large when you first open it, keep in mind that it does shrink up to 30 percent during customization. To get started, you’ll need:

  • A microwavable-safe bowl
  • Water
  • A timer
  • Tongs
  • A bowl of cold water
  • Your Eliminator Pro 2.0 mouthpiece.

Once you have everything you need, it only takes about ten minutes to get your mouthpiece customized to fit your mouth. It can be done in roughly six steps:

1. Heat up enough water in your microwave to submerge the device until it begins to boil.

2. Use your tongs to fully submerge the device, and then immediately transfer to your bowl of cold water for three seconds. The purpose of this step is to prevent it from burning your mouth.

3. Put the device in your mouth, ensuring it touches the front of your teeth for a proper fit. Make sure you place it in with the upper and lower sides placed appropriately.

4. Bite down firmly on the device for 20 seconds while pressing your fingers around the mouth area and sucking the air out with your tongue on the roof of your mouth to create a vacuum as this helps create a tight mold.

5. When 20 seconds elapse, remove the device and take a look to see if it looks tight enough with visible teeth marks.

6. If it looks good, set the device by placing it back in your bowl of cold water.

Keep in mind, you can only re-customize your mouthpiece three times before the soft, moldable plastic begins to lose its shaping properties, so make sure you follow these instructions carefully. However, if you mishandle the first mold and the device becomes unstable, the company will replace it with a new one free of charge if you send them an email.

Comfort

My sleep partner has tried out many anti-snoring mouthpieces, and we’ve yet to find one that doesn’t cause any jaw soreness during the early days of use. This is completely normal as you’re training your mouth to assume an unnatural position.

In his case, Michael reported feeling pretty average soreness for the first four nights of use. He didn’t struggle much with drooling with this device, either, as he has with other products.

Did Eliminator Pro 2.0 Stop My Sleep Partner’s Snoring?

The big question… did the Eliminator Pro 2.0 stop my sleep partner’s snoring? I’m happy to report that, yes, it did, and he reports he enjoyed the ability to make adjustments to the advancement. Let’s take a look at how that works.

How to Make Advancements to Lower Mandible

Many products are set in one particular position, but this doesn’t take individual needs into consideration. You just have to hope it’s set to meet your needs. Eliminator Pro 2.0, on the other hand, allows for you to make adjustments.

The instructions say you’ll have a stick included that you insert this into the front opening of the device and twist until it opens. My package didn’t include one, which was a little disappointing. However, I was able to achieve the same goal with a nail file or by simply pulling the top and bottom apart.

Look at the arrows and numbers on the side to align the upper and lower sections so the lower one is in the position that works for you. When you have it set, squeeze the pieces together until you hear them click. Remember, this isn’t necessarily about comfort. It’s more about finding that perfect position to get snoring to stop without having to overdo it and jack your lower jaw too far forward, which can be uncomfortable.

Who Shouldn’t Consider Eliminator Pro 2.0

Eliminator Pro 2.0 isn’t going to work for everyone, and its limitations are pretty standard for a MAD. If you have loose teeth, unhealthy gums, or dental implants within the last year, you’ll need to explore other options. If you have respiratory disorders like asthma and emphysema, you shouldn’t use this product, either, unless cleared by your doctor to do so. It’s also not intended to be used to treat central sleep apnea.

If any of these factors eliminate this product from your shopping list, I’d strongly recommend you check out our review of Smart Nora. This is a unique product that uses your pillow to stop snoring. It’s a little pricey, but it works, and you don’t have to wear anything.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Although we don’t know much about durability expectations, it’s safe to say proper maintenance will increase your chances of long-term use. Ideally, the manufacturer recommends you use an ultrasonic cleaner. However, you can suffice using toothpaste and a toothbrush and/or soaking the device in denture cleaner after every use.

I like that the product is relatively smooth as this makes cleaning easier. Never use harsh chemicals or household cleaners like bleach or ammonia. After rinsing, make sure you get the mouthpiece completely dry and keep it in the supplied container.

Cost

You can purchase your Eliminator 2.0 for $59.99. This is quite a bit cheaper than a comparable product we’ve tried out, but, with little info on durability expectations, there is a bit of risk involved. However, the cost of this product is on the lower end of the spectrum.

Either way, you do get to take advantage of a 30-day, 100 percent money back guarantee including shipping. If you’re shopping on a budget, I think this option could be preferable over products like SnoreRx.

Eliminator Pro 2.0 Reviews & Feedback

In addition to addressing snoring, the Eliminator Pro 2.0 also prevents teeth grinding. If you have a smaller jaw or are a female, you may find the product to be a bit bulky. In this case, I’d recommend taking a look at options that offer size variance. Let’s take a quick look at what other customers have had to say about their experiences with the Eliminator Pro 2.0:

Pros

  • Allows for adjustments to mandibular advancement up to 10 mm
  • No tools needed for mandibular adjustments
  • Low cost
  • BPA-free

Cons

  • Lacks FDA approval
  • You can only do the boil and bite process three times before the plastic loses its shaping properties
  • Not much flexibility
  • Kind of large for people with smaller jaws
  • No info available in terms of durability expectations

Who We Recommend the Eliminator Pro 2.0 For

Let’s get to the point. The Eliminator Pro 2.0 isn’t for everyone, but it could be a good fit for you if:

  • You want a device that allows you to make adjustments to the lower jaw advancement
  • You’re on a budget
  • You like the ability to breathe through your mouth
  • You like the ability to customize to fit your mouth

Conclusion

Although there is no evidence to indicate this product is FDA approved, the materials used are BPA-free. Overall, I think the degree of customization available with the Eliminator Pro 2.0 along with the 30-day trial and low cost make it a great option to consider in your quest to put a stop to snoring.
