Sleep Joy Memory Foam Topper

One of the greatest inventions of the 21st century is memory foam, hands down. I absolutely love it. But I find that there’s a happy medium you need to search for when buying a mattress topper made from it. It can’t be too thick, because then it’s not supportive enough. But it can’t be too thin either, for obvious reasons.

So, to make things easier on you, I’ve tested and reviewed this Sleep Joy 2” memory foam topper and broken down each and every detail I could think of.

Presenting The Sleep Joy Memory Foam Topper

The Sleep Joy claims to provide a perfect night’s sleep with breathable foam and comfort as well as pressure relief for your body. It also has been through an odor-neutralized process to remove any leftover chemical or foamy smell.

I think this is a great topper for those who are in search of a way to add a touch of extra support but mostly added comfort to their existing mattress. It works well with both new and old mattresses, so no worries there. In regards to other memory foam toppers, I say this one falls within the happy medium you should be looking for.

Features & Benefits

What Sets It Apart?

I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed this topper, that’s something that stood out to me off the start. Upon first opening the package, I was leery. It looked thin, it wasn’t packaged very nicely, and it gave the impression that it was cheaply made.

But once I rolled it out onto the bed, it quickly resumed its proper shape within seconds and covered my queen sized mattress perfectly. I was very impressed with its ability to release and take shape, filling out and smoothing its surface after being jammed into a tiny box for so long.

Construction

So, this particular memory foam topper is 2 inches thick and constructed from open celled foam. Plant based materials are used to infuse the pad and cut down the company’s carbon footprint. I think it also helps with controlling the manufacturing odor that sometimes comes with these products.

The open celled system means that the topper breaths and allows air to properly flow through. This keeps you somewhat cool at night and ensures that it doesn’t get stuffy under the sheets.

Comfort

I know 2 inches isn’t a whole lot in terms of support or comfort, but it really did give a positive impact. I was impressed with how well I slept on this thing. It is the mattress topper that baby bear would have used. Not too big, not too small.

I’ve tried a few other memory foam toppers that cost a lot more money and was definitely not as impressed as I am with the Sleep Joy. With that being said, I’m a back sleeper. If I were a side sleeper, this may be a different story.

What’s Promised

So, the sleep joy promises to provide a great, inexpensive topper to improve the quality of your mattress without actually buying a new mattress. It says that the use of plant based materials and odor-neutralization cuts down on chemical smells often associated with memory foam, and it also says that the open cell construction helps keep you cool at night.

I say most of that is pretty true. I found no noticeable smell when I opened it. However, I didn’t find that I ran a little warm in the middle of the night. With that being said, I did notice that the topper only held the extra heat where my body was. All I had to do was slightly adjust my position and I was comfortably cool again.

Heat Retention

The heat retention on this product was really good. Like I just mentioned in the previous section, I found the pad to hold a little more heat than I like, but only in the areas directly in contact with my body. Once I moved to a cooler spot, the heat released pretty fast. I suspect this is due to the open cell foam.

Maintenance, Protection, Care and Warranty

Maintenance on this product is less than stellar. Firstly, it came with zero info or instructions so I had to look up online how to care for and wash it. I was a little disappointed to learn that it can’t be washed, it can only be spot cleaned.

This means that it definitely needs a protective mattress cover otherwise it will soak up any body odor, sweat, and dirt. But if you find that it does need cleaning, you can take warm water and mild soap to scrub areas. Just make sure it completely air dries before covering up for use.

As for the warranty, even though it came with no paperwork, it was easy to find the warranty info online. The company offers a whole two years limited warranty. Limited means that as long as you haven’t machine washed it and you’ve taken measures to protect it, then they will replace it if there’s other deficiencies. That’s pretty reasonable, and quite common for products like these.

How Easy Are Returns

I did some digging around, and the consensus is that returns are really easy. Just contact the seller with your issue and it seems that they replace with little or no hassle. That’s a good sign. That tells me that the manufacturer backs its product and has no problem replacing it. You can go direct through the company, or contact any third party seller you may have dealt with.

Extra Things To Note

There’s no bells and whistles with this topper, or most memory foam pads for that matter. They are what they are. But I would say that the weight was a big bonus for me. I’ve had other memory foam toppers in the past and, man, are they heavy.

This one only weighed about 12-13 pounds and was super easy for me to lift and roll out onto my queen sized bed. The last one I had weighed nearly 30 pounds so I definitely say the weight is a major bonus for those who are either smaller or don’t have someone to help put it in place.

Consumer Feedback

Customer Support

There were a few negative reviews on this product, but I was surprised to find that no one had issues with returns. The company seemed to have taken the complaints and issued refunds or a replacement product with no hassle. That’s great. If you’re researching a product and find that consumers are not getting a response from a manufacturer about returns, that’s a red flag. Don’t even bother.

Odor

I found no concerning chemical odor, which is something you often have to deal with in regards to memory foam. Consumers also agreed, I did find one person who claimed theirs was smelly, but that could be just one particular case.

Conclusion

So, that’s it folks. Honestly, I loved this topper. It fit my mattress great and stayed in place, even after a full night’s sleep. It was lightweight, next to no odor, and was kind of like being gently hugged as I slept. I recommend it to anyone looking to improve the quality of their mattress for an inexpensive investment.
