Presenting The Pinzon Overfilled Micro-plush Mattress Topper

This topper is made to last. It’s special end-to-end box stitching and the mitre border prevents the massive amount of filling from moving around and bunching during use and washing. They say it’s overfilled with the polyester filling to provide a super comfy sleeping experience.

The surface is made from a microfiber/polyester top and has this almost furry texture to it. There’s a simple square pattern stitched in with a border framing the outer perimeter. The sides are spandex and really stretch to fit down over my thick mattress.

I’d say this is a great mattress topper for those looking to make their existing bed softer and warmer. It held my heat and was like sleeping in a warm hug all night long. While I’m not a big fan of sleeping warm, it would be perfect for those who do.

Compared to other plush mattress toppers, I think this one is at the top of the list in terms of quality. I tested it myself and will breakdown all the features here for you to see.

Features & Benefits

Remember, what I deem to be a pro with a product may not be what you think. So I’ll list all the features here along with my thoughts and experience and you can decide for yourself.

What Sets This Product Apart

Off the bat, what set this product apart from the many others I’ve tested is the quality. You can literally feel it in your hands. It’s heavy, thick, soft, plush, and the stitching is great. The top is made from a polyester material but made to feel like microfiber.

The way they made the pattern helps avoid any moving or bunching while you sleep. Now, it’s not hypoallergenic. Most toppers are nowadays. It doesn’t list it as such and I couldn’t find any info on it. However, my husband is super sensitive to dust and whatnot, but he had no issue with this mattress topper. So, while it may not specify it is allergen free, I think it would be safe to use.

Construction

There’s a lot that went into making this product. The top consists of 100% polyester material, made to feel like a soft microfiber. The bottom is 100% olefin and is pretty soft itself. The massive amount of over-filling is also made of polyester and makes this topper feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud.

The sides area thin, stretching spandex material and are made to fit the thickest of mattresses. I couldn’t believe the ability in the stretch of the sides. However, they’re thin, I’m not sure how well it would stand up over time, but I find it hard to believe it wouldn’t with how well the rest of the product is made.

Comfort

This thing was super comfortable. Like sleeping while wrapped in a warm hug all night long. But not too warm. I’ve mentioned many times that I despise sleeping in a warm bed, I totally need a cool room and blankets in order to get a good night’s sleep. But this topper made me second guess that.

I found it quite hard to pry myself from the bed each morning because I was so warm and comfy. The material was extremely soft beneath my sheets and never bunched or moved throughout the night.

As for support, however, look again. This topper is definitely not built for support. Yes, it’s thick. Yes, it’s comfy. And yes, it’s overfilled. But that doesn’t always equal proper back support. If you’re a back sleeper like me, then you might be okay. I was. But for those side sleepers out there, definitely not.

What’s Promised

The Pinzon promises to provide a quality made bed topper with unique edge-to-edge stitching and a mitred border that ensures the stuffing stays in place. And that’s a hefty promise since this topper is so over-filled.

The spandex sides are supposed to stretch to fit just about any mattress thickness without compromising the structure of the material. And it also states that it stays in places all night long.

I agree with pretty much everything. The stitching was superb and I could tell it was done with the life of the product in mind. I’ve tested lots of other toppers and the thicker they are, the easier they bunch up. But not this one. It remained the same each and every night.

The sides really did stay in place, and I toss and turn a lot so I was surprise to wake up and find that they were still there, tucked underneath. With that being said, the sides are so roomy, they tucked far under my mattress. They really ought to stay in place.

Heat Retention

Now this topper is built to keep you warm. It’s best used during those colder winter months and the chilly Fall ones. The extra filling and soft outer material holds your heat and hugs you tight to keep you cozy and warm.

I think it delivered. I was warm, but not too warm. And it was super soft and plush, so it held my heat nicely. After getting out of bed, the warmth released pretty fast, too. Not as fast as other toppers, but this thing is so thick, so it’s what I expected.

Maintenance, Protection, Care and Warranty

So let’s talk about maintenance. It’s like a dolled up high school girl. Sure, it looks great, but a lot of work went into it and it is high maintenance. The Pinzon can be spot cleaned if you get a stain on it. Use a mild soap and warm water and make sure that it’s completely dry before putting back on your bed.

Because of it’s thickness, it takes a while to dry. One of my kids wiped some peanut butter on the edge so I immediately wiped it off but the oily residue was left behind. I got some warm water and began to spot clean it, adding only a tiny bit of soap as needed. Then I hung it outside. That one little spot took all day to dry in the sun.

As for actual cleaning instructions…are you ready? Dry clean only. Not exactly the best thing for a product that requires frequent washing. But, if you want it to last and abide by the rules to keep your warranty, then you best listen.

With that being said, to protect the topper and cut down on how much it needs washing, you can add a mattress protector on tops of it. It will protect the nice, fancy topper, but you lose the softness that comes through under the sheets.

Also, I checked on line for how customers are handling this whole dry clean only situation and found that some attempted to machine wash. Most had success as long as you put it on a delicate cycle and don’t put anything else in with it. The problem is that the topper gets so horribly heavy when wet, that regular household machines have a hard time spinning it dry. Don’t even try putting it in the dryer, it’s take forever and a day. You must hand outside to dry properly.

So, if you don’t have access to an actually dry cleaning company, then try that. If not, definitely invest in a good mattress protector to go over top of the product.

In regards to warranty, you have 30 days from receipt of the product to return it for a full refund. After that, you may discuss a “store credit” but it would depend on the reason for the return. If it’s defective, then yes. If you are returning just because you don’t like it, then no.

How Easy Are Returns

Touching back on what I said in the previous section, returns seem to be pretty straight forward. There’s no lengthy warranty and I think I know why. It’s a great product and I would see very few reasons for a return. But if the problem ever arose, you can contact the seller and return for a full refund within 30 days. Easy peasy. Just call the number or contact on the site.

If you’re past the 30 days, then you can still contact them for store credit as long as it’s a manufacturer defect and not just because you don’t want it.

Bonuses

The one thing I like about this topper that could be considered a bonus is the edge to edge stitching. It’s great and keeps all that extra fluff in place. Most plush toppers such as this bunch up after just a few nights and don’t even get me started on after washing. But this one holds up.

Consumer Feedback

Durability

I thought it was pretty durable. When I had to spot clean that one area it was easy, came right out. But it did take a while to dry. Online reviews state pretty much the same with the exception of full washing instructions. People don’t seem to be pleased with that.

Odor

There was no odor, which is something I look for right away. Upon opening, it smelled ‘new’ but that’s about it. After I spread it out on my bed, it only took a couple of minutes for it to acclimate to the space. Online feedback stated the same, no odor, very happy buyers.

Customer Support

I’ve seen better, but it is Amazon. You can always contact them about products, especially those they make themselves such as The Pinzon. The few people online who seemed to have major issues (such as cleaning) they stated their returns were easy. So that’s a good sign.

Feedback on its Features

Everyone online loved the weight, the warmth the topper offers, and the quality of the stitching. However, some argued that it was too heavy. And almost everyone hated he cleaning instructions. I have to agree. I was bummed when I discovered it was dry clean only.

Conclusion

And that’s a wrap, folks. I thoroughly enjoyed this topper by Pinzon. It lived up to everything it promised, despite the online feedback. If you’re looking for a quality topper that will keep you warm at night and feel soft under your sheets, then this is the one. However, if the dry clean only feature is a problem then I would think again. I mean, you could try machine washing, but like I said, it gets so heavy you may have a disaster on your hands. If you’re a back sleeper, then this is super. If you’re a side sleeper it still should be okay, but won’t give you as much support as you probably need.
