Would you recommend a specific (or any) Helix mattresses for a Murphy frame that will be down (horizontal)
6 out of 7 days a week?

The standard or Luxe models could both work. However, the Luxe is 14 inches thick. Make sure your Murphy frame can accommodate.

The custom mattress you get after taking the sleep quiz shouldn’t cause any issues when used with your Murphy frame. You shouldn’t have any problems with what you get.

I’ve had my Helix mattress for about a year. I weigh 350 pounds and am 6′ 5″, it has developed a significant depression. I do not recommend this product at all.

Chris, did you get the Nightfall, made for larger/heavier frames, or another model?

Yes, you can put the mattress on an adjustable frame. Afterall, it comes all squished in a bag so it’s pretty flexible.

Before we bought our Purple 4, my husband and I were sleeping on a Otisbed Moonshadow futon mattress. It was 5 years old and we were ready for a “real” mattress. I had heard a lot about Purple, read some reviews, and thought, ‘Yup, that’s the one for me.’ I didn’t do much other research, perhaps foolishly. I have now been sleeping on it for 22 nights and I can’t get past the super-weird (everyone online says “unique”) feel of the hyperelastic polymer. To the point where it keeps me from falling asleep.

I am 5’11”, 195 lbs, and a side (and occasionally back) sleeper with pretty regular lower back pain. I want something that’s comfortable and a little softer, but I don’t want the “stuck in the bed” feel of memory foam. I know a lot of the be memory foam claims to be better, so maybe that’s less of an issue.

My feet tend to get hot, and my husband (also a side sleeper) sleeps hot, so something that sleeps cooler would be good. I like how cool the Purple 4 sleeps, but I don’t like the water-bed like jiggle when I or my husband shifts.

I’ve done research over the last few days, and I think what we want is a Helix, but there are so many options for mattresses, and I don’t want to go through the process of getting another mattress that just doesn’t work. I know there’s a 100+ day trial period, but I just want to get some good sleep.

I’m hoping you might be able to steer us in the right direction. Everyone online says, “The Purple is great, you’ll probably love the Purple,” but no one has any recommendation for people who don’t love their purple. Can you help a tired gal out?

I purchased a Nectar and I am returning it due to it being way to firm. So once I get that return processed I will be trying another mattress. I will do this until I find the one that gives me that wow factor this is the one feeling. As a previous reviewer asked about it being like quicksand (and I know this is based on the quiz) That is what I am wanting but I don’t want it to be unhealthy. When answering the questions on the quiz what answers are going to give me that engulfed enveloped plush feeling but yet still have a touch of firmness? The problem with ordering a mattress in a box is you cant try it first. On the 1 to 10 firmness level I am wanting a 3 to 4. (I think) You all rate the firmness of the Nectar a 7 and I feel it should be more like a 9 to 10. So basically I want to go to the other end of the spectrum. Your thoughts?

Thank you

If you ant a 3-4 quality Mattress, I would urge you to look at the Indigo Mattress.

Helix actually sells a foundation. You can see our review here.

We had a pillow top Simmons mattress for a while but couldn’t sleep on it because it felt like we were engulfed by the foam and couldn’t easily move. Do these newer style all foam matresses have the same quicksand affect?

Newer memory foams have better response.

I have a lower back pain from spinal stenosis. I need to have a bed that I can sleep in. – I can only sleep in one position on my bed and wake frequently throughout the night. I am Interested in the Helix model and I would appreciate any information about payment plans, and the price of shipping (Ca) ?
am also interested to know if the buyer must pay shipping if the bed were to be returned?

john johnson

can you put it on top of the old mattress. we have a queen pillow top that was sort of OK for years but not now. the lower part is almost solid and would seem to be a good base.

thanks

Hey John,

If I understand correctly, you would like to put the Helix mattress on top of your old mattress as a foundation?
It needs a flat surface that can evenly support the mattress or a proper foundation/base. Using an old mattress that might have some sags in areas will affect your comfort-ability and might void your warranty.

I read their return policy to say that “return for any reason” only applies to getting the size of the mattress changed. Changes to comfort level or dislike of feel , etc. is not covered. Very misleading and therefore brings all their other claims into question. I tried to have an email chat with them but get no replies.

Hey Greg,

Not sure where you got that information. They have a 100 night trial period. You can return it for any reason within that time frame, just like the majority of quality online mattresses. I also tried their chat and got a reply almost instantly.
