Our Endy Mattress

It’s true that buying a mattress has become something along the lines of an ordeal because there are so many new models being released each year, it’s almost impossible to keep track of all the options. And you shouldn’t have to, since there are mattresses out there that are just bad and definitely not worthy of your attention. But every once in a while you may come across a mattress that isn’t just good, it’s also correctly priced. And today we have a mattress example that meets both criteria: the Endy bed.

About Endy

Endy is a bed in a box brand of mattresses born back in 2015. They activate solely on Canadian soil and were born out of a desire to change the way Canadians sleep. While their flagship product is their mattress, they also sell other bedding items, like a duvet, a weighted blanket, a pillow, a set of sheets, a bed frame, and others.

— Shipping, Unboxing, and Off-gassing

Sadly, the Endy mattress only ships to its Canadian customers, and shipment is free throughout most of Canada. However, those who like in Nuvanut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, will be charged with a shipping fee depending on their exact location. Since the mattress is compressed and rolled, you will receive your Endy bed in a box. The company doesn’t offer White Glove delivery.

If you’ve ever unboxed a bed that comes in a box before, you’re probably familiar with how the process works. You will receive your mattress rolled up in a compact box, which makes it easier for you to move the bed directly to your bedroom. Simply remove the packaging and allow the mattress to return to its original size.

Because of its all-foam construction, you can expect a little bit of off-gassing when you first remove the mattress from its original package, but we noticed that the smell tends to dissipate in about a day of airing out the bed.

Initial Impressions

The Endy bed is clearly one of the most impressive all-foam beds of its kind. From the moment you touch the cover, you get a feeling of quality, as plenty of people can’t even tell that this is polyester and not brushed cotton. But what happens when you first lie down on the mattress?

Back sleepers will absolutely love how this mattress feels. Even if it wasn’t designed to provide zoned support, you can still feel that it supports your lumbar region. The level of comfort is amazing, but it doesn’t allow the body to sink into the surface of the bed too deep. You will notice that switching positions comes easily.

As you roll over to the side, you can feel a little bit of pressure in the hips and shoulders region, but that’s more noticeable if you weigh less than 130 pounds. Just to be safe, look for another mattress if you primarily sleep on your side.

Stomach sleepers will be happy to know that the Endy mattress manages to push the hips upwards. However, it doesn’t offer the very best spinal alignment, as the bed is a bit too soft to support this sleeping position.

— Construction

The Endy bed is a 10-inch mattress that’s made from a variety of different types of foam, each with its own specific purpose to contribute to a construction that offers support and contouring.

The cover of the Endy mattress is made with a polyester fabric knit, which is a pretty standard choice for a mattress at this price point. The cover feels soft to the touch and offers plenty of breathability, but probably the largest perk is that you can remove and wash the cover inside the washing machine. Plus, the pattern on the fabric is pretty neat, too.

The comfort layer of the mattress is made with Endy Foam, which is made from open-cell structure memory foam, which is basically the only logical alternative to gel-infused memory foam. Y`all know that foam tends to retain quite a lot of heat, so we’ll take whatever cooling measures and properties we can get.

The transition layer is made from polyfoam, in a slightly firmer version than the memory foam above it. It prevents the sleeper from sinking into the mattress too deep, and it helps with the transition to the base layer, which is made from high-density polyfoam.

Features and Benefits

The Endy mattress is the type of bed that you purchase without the highest of expectations but then discover that it delivers more than you bargained for. It is clearly not the type of mattress that’s suitable for everyone, but it does offer a wide range of benefits for several categories of sleepers.

We do love the fact that the cover can be removed and washed, and this should really be a feature present on more mattresses out there, as spot cleaning your bed is often a tedious job that nobody wants to commit to.

The Endy bed is also that type of mattress that understands foam beds tend to retain heat and decided to add open-cell structure foam in its comfort layer to help fight off some of those midnight sweats.

Another thing that we really appreciated is the fact that the mattress doesn’t eight a great deal, which makes it easy to maneuver and move around. This might seem like something that’s not utterly necessary, because who moves their bed around the house, right? However, whenever you’ll want to remove the cover, air out the mattress, or clean under the bed, you will find that this feature is actually super useful.

Since this bed also performs well in the motion isolation chapter, the mattress is good for couples, especially when one of the partners tends to be a fussy sleeper.

• Available Sizes

Like every other good mattress on the market, the Endy is available in all the standard bed sizes that you’ll need. You can purchase one in a Twin-size, or opt for Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, or Cal King. The size of each mattress is also in line with the industry standards, and the mattress measures 10 inches in thickness regardless of the size chosen.

• Heat Transfer

Let’s get something out of the way: there are rare cases where an all-foam mattress will score extremely well at the heat transfer chapter because, as we’ve repeated time and time again, memory foam works by retaining heat and converts it into comfort. However, you still want to look for a bed that includes some cooling options, like open-cell structure, gel or copper-infusion, or convoluted layers of foam that help facilitate airflow.

While the Endy is the most cooling all-foam mattress out there, it does a fairly decent job of keeping your body temperature in a normal interval, but people who tend to sleep very hot or those who like in climates where summer nights are high in temperature might want to opt for something along the lines of a latex or hybrid bed.

• Durability

With only four years of presence on the market, it’s fairly difficult to talk about the durability of the Endy mattress. We can, however, draw a few conclusions based on the construction and densities of each layer of foam used to make this bed. The comfort layer of the Endy mattress is made from 3 PCF foam, while the other two layers have 1.8 PCF foam. That means that the mattress has an average lifespan, making it not the best, but not the worse foam mattress out there in terms of durability.

Even so, you need to keep in mind that the 10-year warranty of the bed covers indentations that appear from normal use, so you can also claim your warranty if you feel the bed is starting to sag ahead of time.

• Maintenance, Protection, Care & Warranty

The trial period of a mattress is really important, whether you buy it online or offline. Even when you test a mattress in a brick-and-mortar store, you don’t actually have enough time to figure out if it’s a proper fit, not unless you sleep on it for a few weeks. The Endy mattress comes with 100 nights of free sleep trial, but unlike other beds, it doesn’t require a break-in period before initiating a return.

The Endy mattress comes with a 10-year warranty during which the company decides if they are to replace the mattress or repair it. If you return the mattress under a warranty claim while the bed is still in the 100 nights of free sleep trial, the trial will be paused and resumed when you receive your new bed.

• Cost

The cost of the Endy mattress varies depending on the size that you choose. You can expect to pay $675 CAD for a Twin-sized bed, while the maximum price is $950 CAD for the California King bed. However, Endy does offer generous discounts every now and then, so you can expect to find this mattress on sale quite often.

Endy Mattress Reviews and Feedback

The Endy mattress has an overwhelming positive feedback level from its community of sleepers. With tens of thousands of people talking about the Endy as if it were the best mattress in the world, you must be at least curious as to what this bed has to offer. Probably the most common reason for praise is the comfort level of this mattress. People claim that sleeping on the Endy bed is a true delight, and some even stated that it helped with their back pain.

Oddly enough, the most common complaint is that the Endy mattress is softer than what some buyers expected. Remember that the firmness of the mattress is in direct relationship with how much you weigh and what your favorite sleeping positions are. We can guarantee that if you’re a 90-pound side sleeper, you’ll claim the Endy is too firm. It’s all really subjective.

Who We Recommend the Endy Mattress For

Even if the Endy mattress is not the most expensive foam bed on the market, it’s construction and characteristics make it a great choice for a variety of different sleepers. Because of its construction, the mattress makes it very easy to switch between different sleeping positions, a fact that indicated the bed is a good choice for combination sleepers. It has a nice level of bounce, plus the two upper layers provide contouring and comfort without making you feel like you’re stuck in the bed.

However, if we were to base our recommendations strictly on the reviews and experience that other sleepers have had with this bed, we would say that the Endy mattress is best paired with average and heavyweight sleepers that prefer sleeping on their backs or side. The mattress doesn’t perform that well if you’re a lightweight sleeper, as it does allow the body to sink into the bed deep enough to provide a proper level of support and contouring.

In terms of motion isolation, the Endy mattress ranked above average in tests, which indicated that couples who share a bed might like this bed as well.

Our Final Verdict

The Endy mattress is clearly a bed worth its money. It offers plenty of features and benefits considering the fact that it also comes at a decent price. The Endy is an all-foam mattress with three layers of foam and a knit polyester cover which can be removed and washed in the machine. It is a bed manufactured and sold only on Canadian land and is available with no shipping costs throughout most of the country.

The bed is an excellent choice for foam lovers who like to sleep on their backs and sides, and it offers good motion isolation for couples who share a bed. It features open-cell structure foam to dissipate some of the heat that foam generally tends to absorb. It offers 100 nights of free sleep trial and it has its sleepers covered by 10 years of warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a mattress cover needed?

Because the cover of the Endy mattress can be removed and washed, you normally don’t need a mattress cover. However, it is always wise to have one because even the removable cover can end up with stains that are difficult or impossible to remove, so an additional mattress cover can help protect your bed for longer.

How does the returns process work?

If you choose to return the Endy mattress, you will have to contact the customer care team so they can guide you through the return process. Once the company has confirmed your details, they will arrange for one of their donation partners to pick up the bed for you. You can expect to receive a full refund when the pickup is complete.
