A Walk Through the Inflation Process

The air pump is located at the foot of the mattress. It doesn’t include a storage area for the cord, but this allows for a longer cord, which could prove convenient when you have limited outlets available.

It only takes about three minutes to air up this product. All you have to do is plug in the power cord and turn the knob to the inflation setting (clockwise). The internal motor does the rest. The motor is kind of loud, but it doesn’t last very long. When you reach your desired firmness, turn the knob off (counterclockwise).

Coleman is the official air bed of the National Park Foundation, and the brand itself is highly reputable. I know from experience from past Coleman products I’ve used that customer service is responsive and helpful should you need assistance during the course of your ownership.

Reinforcements for Added Support

Since air beds are intended for temporary use, you don’t want to use your SupportRest mattress daily. However, for a temporary sleep solution, I think Coleman did a pretty good job in their construction considering the low cost of this model. You can see here how the mattress is reinforced along the edges, and you can really tell how this works to add support. I enjoyed the feel of the soft plush top. Its velvet-like properties go a long way in terms of comfort.

Six-Hundred-Pound Weight Limit

If you carry a lot of weight and have struggled in the past with air beds that deflate quickly during the night, the Coleman SupportRest air mattress could offer the solution you’ve been looking for.

The product is capable of holding up to 600 pounds, which I found pretty impressive for a twin-size model. I think it’s a great temporary sleep solution to consider for anyone who carries a lot of weight. While you may experience a bit of leakage after airing it up, this is normal and caused by stretching that occurs during inflation.

During the first three uses of my Coleman SupportRest airbed, I’ve had to air it up during the night to maintain firmness. However, this ceased after a few inflations, and it now holds air very well through an entire eight-hour sleep session.

Pros

  • Product’s height makes it accommodating for those with health issues
  • Holds air well
  • Small size makes it easy to store and transport

Cons

  • Mattress topper necessary to offer adequate comfort
  • Some reports of uneven support
  • Size doesn’t accommodate sleep partners

Information on Sheet-Fitting

I prefer to use my air beds with a fitted sheet, and, even though it’s 20 inches thick, I was still able to get by with a standard sheet. The indentations on the sides help prevent it from slipping off. You may want to buy an oversized fitted sheet if you want it to stay on more securely.

Deflation

Once you’re finished using your Coleman SupportRest airbed, it only takes a couple minutes to deflate. Simply turn the knob counterclockwise and open up the air valve until it lays flat on the floor. You can also open the deflation plug found next to the motor to make the process move along a little more quickly.

The air valve is dual-sealed and leak-free. Coleman includes a carrying bag to be used to store the mattress in. It’s lightweight and easy to put in the closet or carry with you on your next outing.

Size

The Coleman SupportRest air mattress comes in standard twin size. This makes it really lightweight and easy to transport. This could come in handy if you’ll be camping or otherwise have to carry your mattress a significant distance. It’s dimensions are 40 x 75 x 20 inches.

Coleman SupportRest Reviews and Feedback

We strive to provide mattress shoppers a well-rounded understanding of sleep products. Since some of the perceptions shared here are based on my opinion, I took a moment to look around the Internet to see what other Coleman SupportRest customers had to say about this product.

Our Final Verdict

I’ve had a positive experience with my Coleman SupportRest air bed. The antimicrobial-treated sleep surface resists harmful mildew, odor, and fungus, making it a viable option for camping. I took mine on a camping trip. Although we did have to air up the product in a shelter nearby our campsite, the small size made it easy to transport the mattress on the top of the car.

I think the AirTight system worked pretty well at helping the mattress hold air through the night, but you may need to top it off once during an eight-hour sleep session. This is especially true during the first few uses. While it is factory-tested to be leak free, this doesn’t prevent the leakage that naturally occurs due to initial stretching.

You receive a one-year limited warranty, and I think you’ll really enjoy the soft plush top. For a temporary sleep solution, this is an excellent length of time and gives you plenty of opportunities to ensure it’s the right product for your needs.
