I have used this item for many years ( started in 80’s some time ) and I disagree with some of your comments but agree in general . What I like best is that for those of us that use a mattress pad 7″ – 10″ thick and not these monster 28″ things —-this thing will stay in position and not shift and slip and come off or undone. I find I can use for quite a long before my first washing and after that I can get a good 6 or7 washings before I see or notice any real diff . I have tried many mattress pads and/or toppers over the Years and have not gotten better out of those costing up to $100 –$150 .
