About the 1771 Living Company

The 1771 Living Company is a global distributor that has partnered with global manufacturing companies to provide the best quality bedding and bath essential money can buy. They strive to provide long lasting, comforting materials and construction that allows for an experience you can look forward to.

Shipping & Unboxing

A queen size sheet set arrived on my doorstep within a week of being ordered and was packed in a nondescript, cardboard box that provided no information as to what was inside. I do prefer this type of packaging as it helps pass on savings to the consumer (who doesn’t have to eat the cost of branding the packaging) as well as keeps it from drawing attention to the delivery.

The sheet set was folded and packaged snugly into a thick plastic casing which allowed for easy removal. This also resulted in very little waste material and showcased the product well. Upon unwrapping I had no off-gassing smell and was impressed with the thicker feel of the cotton as I unfolded the sheets.

Obviously, you do want to wash all new materials before use. But for this article, I did go ahead and showcase the products as they came to ensure both fit, and my possible experiences with wear and shrinkage after being washed.

Initial Impressions

Having no experience with this company before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as mentioned I did like the initial feel of the cotton. It was obvious that this was a 100% cotton product, and was constructed using a higher quality thread as it was thicker and more durable feeling than what I have experienced purchasing from brick and mortar storefronts.

The queen size sheets I received had a fitted, flat, and 2 pillowcases included. Plus I noticed that the labels helped direct where to place the sheets (top of bed vs bottom) and to help keep your entire set together- in case you have multiple white sheets that are easy to mix up.

The short side of the fitted sheet was elastic, helping you determine which way the fitted sheet goes as well. I found this is a nice way to help with the overall stretch, and keep me from having to rotate the sheet into the proper position or guessing which end was which.

Construction

The materials and overall construction provide an initial impression of quality and durability. These options are also a great option for anyone who prefers a 100% cotton option rather than any sort of blend.

Softness and Thread Count

Made from 100% cotton, the overall feel upon unpacking is of a smooth, crisp, yet thick material that should soften upon use and washing. Created from long-staple cotton, this is amongst the best quality offered to provide a better product for your money. It also provides superior breathability for a more comfortable night’s sleep. After washing properly, the material also began to soften without losing any of the thicker feels.

Thread-count is a very subjective term that is used in the bedding industry to manipulate the quality of their products. Higher counts do not always reflect quality, and may simply highlight many thinner threads, rather than fewer, high-quality threads in the weave. Because of this, the company does not feel the use of thread count accurately showcases what they are offering and allows its own product to speak for itself.

Elastic Fitted Sheet

As mentioned, the head and foot of the fitted sheet is fully elasticized to provide added stretch for a secure fit, as well as an easy indicator of how to place your sheet. No more rotating the sheet or fixing the wrong corner, and wasting time trying to line everything up.

Personally I really liked this touch as I usually see a fully elasticized sheet, or corner elasticity, which can make it a challenge to find which corner belongs where. This also allowed the sheets to fit easily over the mattress and topper I use and provide a snug fit that didn’t pull up at all. The longer sides tucked under the mattress as well without gaping.

Deep Pockets

The company claims a 14-inch pocket fit which is on the deeper end of an average sheet, although is not as deep as what is offered by some companies. My mattress and topper total approximately 15 inches and the sheets fit over this easily without the fitted sheet being difficult to put on or pulling up once I laid upon it. There was also no initial gaping of the non-elasticized side. I estimate that you could probably fit them over a 16-inch mattress without issue.

Envelope Style Pillowcase

Unlike a bag style pillowcase, these envelope style options keep your pillow in place and won’t slip off! The queen size sheets come with a standard size pillowcases which fit both standard and queen size pillows very well. They were generously sewn to provide a roomy pocket that stays put without compressing the type of pillow you may have.

We used them with both feather and down and memory foam pillows with no issue.

Heat Transfer

Cotton is one of the best natural materials you can use to help avoid heat transfer as they are moisture-wicking and breathable. After washing and sleeping with the sheets, I would have to say this is true (as if there was any doubt). These are a cooling option that is comforting and soft to sleep with.

Durability

Cotton is also a naturally durable choice, and since these are woven from long-staple cotton, making them even more so. Washing and using over the course of a month only made them softer and more comfortable. I expect them to last a while.

Feature and Benefit Feedback

Obviously, most companies are focused on providing consumer comfort and these sheets deliver. The choice of using durable, quality cotton allows for temperature regulation, long-lasting comfort, and durability. These are all details that justify price points and recommendations.

It would be nice to have them offered in a bit of a deeper fit for more versatility with a wider range of mattress profiles, but they provided a decent for a 15-inch option with a little room to play.

Size Options

The sheets come in a range of sizes to fit any bed you may have. Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King,  and California King are available for purchase.

SIZE CHART

Sizes Fitted Sheet Flat Sheet Pillowcase
Twin 39″ x 76″ x 14″ 67″ x 98″ 20″ x 26″
Twin XL 39″ x 80″ x 14″ 67″ x 104″ 20″ x 26″
Full 55″ x 76″ x 14″ 88″ x 98″ 20″ x 26″
Queen 60″ x 80″ x 14″ 92″ x 104″ 20″ x 26″
King 76″ x 80″ x 14″ 110″ x 104″ 20″ x 36″
Cal King 72″ x 84″ x 14″ 110″ x 104″ 20″ x 36″

Color

The sheets are also offered in a Crisp White, Seagull Gray, or Farmhouse Navy- which, be warned, is a deeper gray in color rather than blue. I do wish their color palette was a bit more extended and the names were more indicative overall to avoid getting something you didn’t expect.

Maintenance, Care, and Warranty

Cotton can shrink, and so it is important to wash them correctly to avoid the high heat that may cause them to create a tight fit. Washing in cold or warm water and then hanging to dry or tumbling on low is recommended. Personally, I wash in cold water and tumble low and have had no issues with shrinkage.

Warranty

Although a warranty does not seem to come with the sheets (at least I could not find one) it DOES come with a 60-day guarantee, which allows for plenty of time to determine if you like both the feel and quality of the product. This no-hassle option allows you to receive a prepaid shipping label to send their closest charity partnership so the product doesn’t go to waste.

Cost

These are considered a luxury item and the cost does reflect this, but shipping is also included as part of the cost within the contiguous United States.  Costs start at $109 for twin sets and go up to $129 for California King sets.

Reviews and Feedback

These are a very well-received set of sheets that reflect reviews that praise the overall comfort and quality of the material used. They are a popular choice through the company due to their 100% cotton use, and consumers love how they soften with use and continue to be breathable and cool to sleep with.

I could find no criticism of the sheets and agree with the findings of others.

Who We Recommend the 1771 Living Essential Cotton Sheet Set For

If you have been looking for a durable, breathable, 100 percent cotton sheet set, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the 1771 Living Cotton Sheets. They are cooling, a long-lasting choice that washes wonderfully and provides a very comfortable night’s sleep. The quality also allows you to use them for years rather than having to replace an inferior product.

Our Final Verdict

The Sleep Judge Review Team provides 2 thumbs up for these sheets despite having no prior knowledge of the company. The quality and wear spoke for itself and showcased a well made, comfortable bedding option. Although we wish they came in deeper sheets for a wider variety of mattress profiles, they provide a good fit to a 14 to 15-inch mattress size without pulling too tight and may fit a deeper option a bit more snugly.

The thick cotton is unparalleled and softens with use and washing. Plus the envelope style pillowcase is a great touch to help keep you pillow encased and protected!
