The Layla Mattress VS Loom and Leaf Mattress: What’s the Difference?

In this day and age, we tend to forget how important sleep can be. As we go about our day and keep up with our technological devices, we also forget how to unplug, unwind and relax. A report has indicated that more and more of us are suffering from sleep deficiency. In the long run, this would be detrimental to both our physical and mental health. To prevent this from happening, we need to get good quality sleep. Getting a good night’s rest can be affected by a number of factors and having a suitable mattress is one of them. If you don’t have the proper mattress to suit your needs, you’ll end up having aches, pains, headaches, migraines and other uncomfortable issues that will continue to build up in the future. Hence, it’s important to select a mattress that you feel comfortable with. Nowadays, there are plenty of mattresses in the market that cater to different individuals.

Let’s Dive In!

The Loom and Leaf and the Layla Mattress are two beds that are constructed with memory foam – a material that’s popular with individuals worldwide. However, they both have other unique features that make them independent from each other. While the Loom and Leaf model has a swirl cooling spinal gel and eco-friendly premium foam, the Layla bed has copper infused memory foam and a two-sided firmness level mattress.

The Loom and Leaf model is constructed with memory foam. However, it’s five layers are made with unique materials. For example, there’s a layer in the Loom and Leaf that’s made with an advanced cooling gel technology that’s been integrated into the mattress layers. This technology is also known as the cooling spinal gel and either than ensuring you don’t overheat at night, it also provides additional support to your spine while you sleep. Either than the unique technology incorporated into their bed, Loom and Leaf also aim to cater to individuals that have different sleep positions. They’ve also proudly stated that their mattress provides a plethora of health benefits from better circulation to the relief of joint pain.

Top Layer – Organic cotton and quilt

As with most mattresses, the top layer starts with a supremely soft cover that’s made of luxurious organic cotton. Since the fabric is breathable, it helps to keep you nice and cool at night. To add to the comfort, the cover is also quilted with an additional layer of foam and a fiber mesh that’s plant-based. This mesh material is called natural thistle and is wood pulp that’s bonded with some polyester.

Second Layer –Two inches of cooling spinal gel

This unique cooling spinal gel is made by Loom and Leaf. As the name suggests, it makes sure that you’re kept cool and fresh at night while supporting your spine. Unlike other mattresses, however, this gel is distributed evenly within the memory foam due to the swirl construction technique. Since it’s a spinal gel, it also helps to support the spine and is located at a position in the mattress that targets the lower section of your back. There’s also the additional design of an inverted foam tip which allows better air flow circulation.

Third Layer –2.5 inches of premium foam that weigh 5lbs

This premium foam forms the middle layer of the mattress and aids in contouring to each individual body type. Loom and Leaf have also ensured that this premium foam is not only environmentally friendly but is also long-lasting and has met the stringent conditions for performance.

Fourth Layer –2 inches of transition loft pad

This layer sits in between the premium foam and the support base below. Since it’s a transition layer, it helps to seamlessly integrate the layers above and below and provide the best results for exceptional sleep quality.

Fifth Layer – 5.5 inches of a support base

The final layer provides a foundation to the mattress and is made of durable high-density foam. It also helps in providing a sturdy structure for the entire mattress.

Firmness

If you choose to purchase the Loom and Leaf bed, it comes in two different firmness levels of relaxed firm and firm. The relaxed firm is the comfort level that most individuals who purchase the Loom and Leaf Mattress, prefer. It sits in between a plush and hard firmness level and is rated at about a 7 on the firmness scale. While most memory foam mattresses usually rate between a 5 and a 6, the relaxed firm is a tad firmer than the traditional memory foam mattress and is suitable for different sleep positions. The firm version on the other hand, rates at about an 8.5 on the firmness scale. Since it’s a rather firm mattress, it’s suited to those who prefer to sleep on their back or on their stomach. It’s also ideal for individuals that have been recommended by a healthcare professional to sleep on a mattress that’s firmer.

Feel

Depending on which firmness level you select, there’s a difference in the way they feel. With both mattresses, you’ll start off by noticing the softness of the cover and how smooth it is. As you sink into the relaxed firm bed, you’ll notice that it’s firmer than other memory foam mattresses, but you’ll still get that slow sink in feeling. The memory foam will also contour to your individual body type and provide adequate support. On the other hand, the firmer version provides a sturdier support in comparison to the relaxed firm bed. Hence, you’ll feel that your body is supported a little more and you won’t get as much of that memory foam sink in feeling.

Unique Features

Cooling Spinal Gel

The cooling spinal gel technology was specially developed by Loom and Leaf. Due to its swirl quality, it will provide cooling properties to your entire body while helping to support the spine. You won’t have to worry about the gel breaking down as it’s completely made of materials that aren’t toxic and specifically laminated into the memory foam’s top layer.

Similar to the Loom and Leaf bed, the Layla bed is also constructed with memory foam. However, its unique feature is that the memory foam is infused with copper. With the addition of copper, it’ll help prevent you from overheating at night, provides added support and protects you from microbes. Another unique feature of the Layla is its double-sided firmness feature. While regular mattresses come with one firmness levels, the Layla has two firmness levels of one side being softer and the other side being firmer. If you’re sleeping on the softer side and want to sleep on the firmer side the next night, all you have to do is flip over the mattress.

Top Layer – Soft Cover

The supremely soft cover is made of a combination of polyester, viscose and poly/lycra. You can easily remove the cover, and have it sent for dry cleaning. To keep you feeling cool and comfortable at night, the cover is also infused with a special thermo gel that helps in regulating temperature.

Second Layer – Memory Foam that has been infused with copper

The second layer is the Layla Mattress’s special memory foam that’s been infused with copper. As this layer is meant to be the softer side of the mattress, it’s three inches thick to provide an extra plush feeling. As you sink into the comfort of the mattress, the memory foam will contour to your individual body type and provide adequate pressure relief. Since there’s copper infused in the memory foam, it comes with added benefits such as being able to prevent you from overheating at night.

Third Layer – Convoluted Support Foam

This layer makes up the transition layer of the mattress and is constructed with two inches of poly foam. As the transition layer, it helps your body to adjust to the firmer support base below. The convoluted support foam layer is also uniquely constructed with a design that models an egg crate to help with air flow that will keep you fresh and cool at night.

Fourth Layer – Base Support Foam

Out of all the layers, this is the thickest layer of the mattress. It consists of a 4.5-inch layer of poly foam and provides a solid structure to the entire mattress. It also provides added support to prevent you from sinking too far into the memory foam layer below.

Fifth Layer – Memory Foam that has been infused with copper

As this layer is for individuals that’s sleeping on the firmer side of the mattress, it has the same components as the second layer. However, due to the absence of a transition layer and the presence of a sturdier base support foam, you won’t sink in too far and will be provided with adequate support.

Firmness

The firmness level differs depending on which side of the mattress you choose to sleep on. While one side of the mattress is firmer, the other is softer. If you prefer a softer mattress, you’d sleep on the plusher side that sits at about a five on the firmness scale. As you get that traditional memory foam feel, you’ll slowly sink into comfort. For the firmer side of the mattress, all you’d need to do is flip it over. In terms of firmness, it sits at about a 6.5 on the firmness scale. While there isn’t a significant difference between the two, you will feel that there’s more support on this side. Overall however, both mattresses sit at a medium firmness level.

Feel

While not huge, there’s a bit of a difference depending on which side of the mattress you choose to sleep on. If you’re sleeping on the softer side of the Layla Mattress, you’ll notice that it’s thicker due to its 3-inch layer. As you slowly sink into the mattress, you’ll feel a bit of support and how soft and plush the memory foam mattress is. On the other hand, the firmer side of the mattress is still plenty comfortable and soft. However, it’s a bit sturdier than its softer counterpart. Due to the way the mattress is constructed, there’s added support and you’ll feel a little more bounce.

Unique Features

Copper Infused

As the Layla Mattress has memory foam that’s infused with copper, it provides unique benefits such as protecting you from microbes, making sure that you don’t feel stuffy at night and providing your shoulders and hips with added support.

Double-Sided

It’s rare to find a mattress with two firmness levels as mattresses usually have different firmness levels that are sold separately. With this unique double-sided feature, you can sleep on the softer or firmer side depending on your preference for the night. You’ll no longer have to struggle with finding a mattress that has your desired firmness level since you can easily flip it over and find the firmness that suits you best.

While memory foam mattresses can be stuffy at times, the Loom and Leaf mattress helps with that problem with the cooling spinal gel. As it’s laminated onto the mattress, you’ll be able to be kept cool and comfortable throughout the night. In comparison to the Layla Mattress, the Loom and Leaf Mattress is firmer and sturdier. Hence, if you want a mattress that provides more support, the Loom and Leaf mattress is worth a shot. However, since it’s still made with memory foam, you’ll still get that slow sink in feeling along with a contouring benefit. The Loom and Leaf Mattress is also great for side sleepers since the memory foam depresses a little more to fill the gaps for optimal spine alignment. If you prefer to sleep on your back or stomach, the firmer version would be more suited for you. Price wise, the Loom and Leaf Mattress is more expensive than the Layla Mattress. However, it is made of long-lasting materials and is a mattress that you’ll be able to sleep on for a number of years. It also has that special spinal technology and is extremely comfortable.

The Layla

Similar to the Loom and Leaf Mattress, if you have a tendency to feel stuffy with regular memory foam mattresses, this would be a good fit. With the addition of infused copper in the memory foam and thermogel in the cover, you won’t need to worry about overheating at night. The unique feature of a double-sided version is also great for sleepers that can’t decide which firmness level they prefer to sleep on. With the Layla bed, you can just flip it over to whichever side you prefer. Basically, you’re purchasing two mattresses in different firmness levels for the price of one. However, it’s important to note that the firmness levels don’t differ too much from each other so if you’re looking for something with a significant difference, the Layla bed may not be for you. In comparison to the Loom and Leaf, the Layla is a more affordable option that still retains its quality. While this mattress may not last for an infinite period of time, it certainly will provide you with the restorative rest you need for quite a number of years.
