I recently unboxed my New Layla Mattress, and I also received its complementary pillow. In the past, I’ve always used a pillow that uses either a wad of cotton that quickly flattens or bulky layers of foam that make it difficult to accommodate the curves of the cervical spine. If you’re like me, you’ve probably found yourself folding your pillow to try and make it work right for you. In many cases, I’ll ditch my pillow altogether and just sleep without one.
I have only just recently unboxed my Layla pillow, and it’s already proven to be the answer to my pillow problems. It contains shredded memory foam that’s more easily able to mold to fit your head and neck comfortably.

Copper Cover Offers Multiple Benefits
The Layla pillow cover is made using 66% polyester, 30% viscose, and 4% poly/lycra, and these are woven with copper fibers. Many people don’t think much about it and often equate copper to the penny. However, copper has the ability to quickly absorb heat and transfer it away from your body. If you’ve ever woken up with a sweat-covered forehead, you know how disturbing this can be, and the copper cover keeps this from happening. It also:

Excellent Balance of Comfort and Support
If you purchase your Layla pillow with the New Layla Mattress, you’ll see the covers match. Each is very soft to the touch. I am a little disappointed that the pillow cover doesn’t come off. The mattress cover can be removed and dry-cleaned, but the pillow is spot-clean only. Because it’s so soft, I would love to use it without a pillowcase, but that’s not a good idea since your face oils will, over time, begin to cause degradation.
However, I love the softness offered by the mix of Kapok tree fibers and shredded memory foam inside this product. Although soft, it’s also supportive. Since the memory foam retains its shape, you don’t have to worry about your pillow going flat. It’s able to assume my head shape very well and offers just the right amount of support without making my head feel like it’s sitting too high off the bed.

Off-gassing for a Few Hours
You may experience that “new pillow smell” for a few hours after your unboxing. Since the pillow isn’t vacuum-sealed like the mattress and therefore allowed more ventilation, it doesn’t take very long for this to fade. Off-gassing isn’t something that bothers me, but, if it does to you, I’d suggest opening it up several hours before you go to bed and/or buying a pillowcase for the first use.
Over the next week or so, I’ll be taking a close look at both the Layla pillow along with the New Layla Mattress. I’m excited to see how these two products work together to keep me sleeping cool from head to toe, so make sure you check back to see how everything pans out!
