The eve mattress has only been around since 2011, but within months of their debut, they had sold to “tens of thousands” people. They were able to do this by creating a luxury mattress that could be sold at a reasonably fair price.
They also made the process of buying 20% simpler and better. Not only that, but they are generous enough to offer a 100 night trial to ensure that you absolutely love it. If not, send it back and get your money.
The Eve Promise
The eve was created to bring people a mattress that wasn’t too hot or too cold by infusing it with a new generation of foams that offers more than traditional ones. Let me tell you something, this mattress did exactly what it was suppose to. My husband and I slept wonderfully and unlike other memory foam mattresses that we have slept on in the past, it did not retain heat.
Who Is It For?
The eve is the ideal mattress for those who are looking for an even level of firmness, cooling and comfort. At first, the eve may feel like it is too firm for your liking, but it just takes a couple of days to break in. If you are a lover of memory foam and want to be comfortable and cool all night long, the eve may be great for you.
The Good And The Bad
As with every product, there are always good things and not so good things. For the Eve, it was hard to find the bad, but here is is a generalized list:
- Has great support
- Helped with back pain
- Was easy to set up
- Cover can be washed
- Lighter than most memory foam mattresses
- The initial smell is undesirable
- Degassing time is a bit too long
- May be cheaper than some mattresses, but it’s still pricey.
Order Experience & Procedure
When you first go to order the Eve, you will notice that shipping is always free!
I don’t know about you, but I love free shipping, not to mention, shipping a mattress can’t be very cheap. It is also very easy to order one of these mattresses. All you need to do is select the size you want which can be Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Cal King, and add it to the cart.
When you order your first mattress, you will also get a 100 night trial. This means that if you are not completely in love with your eve by 100 days, you can return it and get your money back.
If you want to order an Eve, but you can’t quite afford it, no worries! If you qualify after a soft credit check that will not affect your credit score, you can finance it for 0% APR over a 6 month period, PLUS 30 days free before you start being charged.
If you do not qualify, don’t get bummed out too quickly. They will evaluate you for rates at 10%-30% APR over 3, 6, and 12 months, excluding taxes and fees.
Eve has definitely made the ordering experience friendly, convenient, and simple.
Shipping & Initial Thoughts
As mentioned above, shipping is absolutely free, it’s also super speedy! The eve company is located in the United Kingdom and they had my mattress to me in New York in less than a week. When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was the very welcoming box.
The inside of the box is designed with different sayings and inspirational blurbs such as “Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake”. It also came with a nifty booklet that explains what the eve is and what it does. In my honest opinion, this is great marketing as opposed to other companies that ship an unwelcoming plain box with no instructions or care manual.
The weight of the package isn’t as bad as other mattresses. It only tops off at around 65 pounds, which isn’t too terrible.
All mattresses come with their own features and benefits, for the Eve, it is loaded with them. So, let me walk you through all of them and give you a good idea of what this mattress does and how it performed for me.
The eve is constructed with four main components:
The knitted cover, made from woven polyester, gives you a soft surface to sleep on while being removable and washable for constant freshness. It is zippered all the way around the mattress which makes removal quick and easy while keeping dust and dirt out.
This layer is 4 cm and helps to give you a balance of comfort, pressure relief on joints, and allows easy movement while sleeping. No sinking into one area and having to roll over a hump.
This layer is 3 cm of cooling foam which has 30% more breathability than other memory foams. This is because of the open air technology that encourages airflow so that the mattress does not retain heat.
This layer is 18 cm and provides the foundation for the mattress. It helps to support the top layers and is ultra resilient.
Everyone has their own level of comfort for their mattress. For me, this was very comfortable and supported the right parts of my body. My husband, as well as another reviewer on the team, found that the mattress was giving them a restful night of sleep.
My husband and I started sleeping through the night and when we got up in the morning, we could honestly say that we were still in bed because it was really comfortable and not because we were tired and did not want to get up.
My husband likes to move his legs and feet around to get comfortable. While we were sleeping on the Eve, he said that he had no desire to move around to get comfortable like he did on our old mattress. He said that he was almost instantly comfortable and it helped him fall asleep quicker.
I am a stomach sleeper, and the eve would contour wonderfully to my body to ensure that stomach sleeping was comfortable for me. Although this was true from my perspective, it may not be the same for other people since they have their own level of firmness that works for them.
Overall, the eve had excellent support. I know I have mentioned this in other spots, but it supported my back and joints very well, along with my husband and another member of our review team.
When you first lay down on it, it is going to feel really firm, but within a few days, it broke in a little and began to soften. After about a week I noticed the difference in the level of firmness from when I first opened it.
You may also notice that once you break it it, you may sink into the mattress. This was actually a huge plus for me because it conformed to the natural curves of my body and it actually helped me sleep much better.
Side note: The eve will support sleepers up to 252 pounds-or if you are from the UK-18 stones.
With most memory foam mattresses, it seems that you aren’t going to get as good of edge support as you would a regular mattress. For the Eve, the edge support wasn’t necessarily bad, it just didn’t support my weight. This may not serve true to those who are on the lighter side of the scale.
If you take a look at this picture, you can see how it reacts to a 55 pound child sitting on the edge.
In my honest opinion, I think that memory foam mattresses that don’t offer as strong of edge support as an innerspring are best when placed on bed frames that are enclosed, like the kind that have the boards that come up to the top of the mattress like you would see on a water bed.
Let me tell you a little story before I get into the motion isolation of the Eve. My husband is a rough sleeper and by that I mean he flips and flops in his sleep. On my old mattress, I could feel every little movement he made, which made for sleepless nights for me, even before I had kids. If you’re a parent or caregiver, you know what i’m talking about with the relationship between sleep and babies.
The motion isolation of this mattress is absolutely wonderful. I could not feel a single movement my husband made, not only because he was so comfortable that he didn’t flip and flop, but also because when he did happen to move, I genuinely didn’t feel it. The same thing was said by another member of the review team. He could not feel his wife move and vice versa.
If you take a look below, you can view a test we did for motion isolation. A member of the review team used his dog Winston and a glass. Not only is it absolutely adorable, but it shows precisely how well motion isolation is. Everyone, meet Winston!
Temperature Regulation Features
The eve is made with a New Generation memory foam that stops you from overheating by allowing air to circulate better than traditional memory foam. It helps your body heat to escape better during the night while you are asleep. It is also claimed that it is 30% more breathable than the traditional kind.
I have slept on other memory foam mattresses in the past and they all made me sweat while I was sleeping and the same can be said for my husband.
If you continue on to the next section, we did a test to see how well this feature actually worked.
Oh, more good things I can say about the eve! It didn’t hold heat while my husband and I slept on it. We are very warm sleepers and most mattresses would make us sweat, not the Eve! We slept cool and comfortably all night long. Bare in mind that our bedroom stays at around 65 degrees, so that may play a part in how much heat the mattress holds and how cool you sleep in general.
I did a test that showed how long the eve took to cool down when a heating sock was placed on it. If you are wondering what a heating sock is, it is a sock that has rice inside of it that can be warmed up in the microwave. It is a cheap homemade substitute for a heating pad if you don’t have one. I use the sock and the gun to record how long it takes for the mattress to cool down from around 130 degrees to 98 degrees.
If for some reason you do happen to sleep too warm on the Eve, I highly suggest the Nacreous Mattress Pad from Slumber Cloud. We reviewed that as well and it really did work to help reduce heat retention on other mattresses! Click on that link and you can see our review and buy it if you’re impressed.
Where is the frowning face emoticon when I need it? Okay, so here is the scoop on the smell of the mattress that I have done nothing but praise for the last dozen paragraphs. It does stink, pretty badly. My mom nose has smelled a lot of not-so-nice things, but this tops it.
According to the nice customer service lady I spoke to on the eve website, the smell is completely harmless and does come with most memory foam products, but it should go away within 2 weeks. This is especially true if it is aired out with the windows open or as another member of the team says “give it the white sock treatment”, which basically means to gently walk over it to release the smell better. Another thing that you could do to make it air out quicker is to remove the cover.
If you are willing to wait a few weeks to actually sleep on the mattress, it is well worth it. I mean, if you can’t really smell anything anyway, then you may not have to wait that long if you are impatient like me.
To speed up the degassing process, have a dedicated room for the mattress, rest it on its side against a wall (image to the right), open a window and get a box fan to help the air circulate.
The Eve does seem like it would be more durable than other mattresses. If I did not already mention this, the cover can be taken off and washed per manufacturer instructions. You can’t do that with other mattresses which is why they tend to get gross and smelly.
When it comes to the inside, you don’t have to worry about springs poping through or being worn out because there aren’t any. The inside is made from multiple layers to add to the durability factor. Also, the cover is stretchy and tightly knitted so it won’t unwillingly stretch and bust the seams.
Their 10 year warranty should also hint at how well their product is made. I can only assume they made this with all intentions of it lasting many, many years.
We scoured the internet and rounded up some consumer feedback on the Eve. Take a look at what consumers had to say about durability.
Maintenance, Protection, Care & Warranty
Is a foundation needed?
As with all memory foam mattresses, a foundation is highly suggested to get the most from your mattress. The eve fits all bed types including, but not limited to sprung slatted, platform or floor, divan or box spring and slatted bases.
Is a mattress pad or protector needed?
This is really a personal preference, but again, to get the most out of your mattress and to make it last longer, you could opt for a pad or protector. This will help protect the longevity of your warranty and keep the inside of your mattress fresh and clean.
Does it work on adjustable beds?
Yes, it can be used on an adjustable bed. According to the nice customer service lady, again, their CEO uses the eve on an adjustable bed. It is suggested though that if it is not in use for long periods of time that it is left flat.
Are returns hassle free?
If for some bizarre reason you do not like the eve, you can return it within the first 100 days for a full refund and they will arrange a free pickup from your home, no questions asked.
What’s the scoop on the warranty?
There is a 10-year mattress warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship which covers deterioration, physical flaws, and manufacturing defects in the zipper or fabric of the cover. The warranty will start on the date of delivery and lasts 10 years from that date.
Is there a trial available?
Who doesn’t love a free trial? The eve has a 30-day free trial that allows you to test it out and if it does not work for you, they will pick it up for free and not charge you. If you do love the eve, which is the case for 95% of the people who try it, your first payment will then be due 30 days after receiving it. To get the free trial, choose the “Affirm” option at checkout. You will also still get 100 days to make your final decision. If you don’t like it, they will refund you and pick it up.
Does it need to be rotated?
It, and you, could definitely benefit from it being turned end to end every 30 days for the first year to get an even wear and extend its life.
Are There Bonuses?
Other than the fact that there is a free trial and they will pick it up from your bedroom, the only other real bonus is that since their memory foam is super breathable and porous, the increased airflow helps to stop the growth of mold, fungus, and dust mites. This could help to alleviate any asthma or allergy symptoms you may have while you are in your bed.
As with most mattresses, the eve will cost a pretty penny, but it is totally worth it in my opinion. Here is a breakdown of the sizes and their prices:
Twin (39” x 75”)- $499 or $84 per month at 0% APR financing
Twin XL (39” x 80”) $599 or $100 per month at 0% APR financing
Full (54” x 75”) $749 or $125 per month at 0% APR financing
Queen (60” x 80”) $849 or $142 per month at 0% APR financing
King (76” x 80”) $949 or $159 per month at 0% APR financing
Cali King (72” x 84”) $949 or $159 per month at 0% APR financing (Nope, not a mistake in price. For this option, you’ll get more length but shorter width at the same cost).
Note: The financing option is subject to a soft credit check which does not affect your credit score. If you pass the check, you will get your mattress financed at a rate based on your qualifications. After 30-days, you will start being charged if you decide to keep it.

Looking For Something Without Ridges, Bumps and Lumps
Some mattresses will have those button things in that make a pattern all across your bed, those are no bueno in my book. The Eve has a smooth cover made from polyester that is nice and thing to help promote better temperature regulation. It does not have a bulky and over padded pillow top feel.
The Cooling Factor
The Eve has a nice cooling factor because the cover isn’t very thick and the heat doesn’t get trapped. Since the polyurethane foam is generally cooler than other foams, it goes hand in hand with the breath-ability of the eve to keep you even cooler.
The eve is ideal for those who may be looking for something in between a cotton ball and a rock. On the firmness scale, I put it at around a 6.5. Once you break it in a little, it is going to soften up just a tad.
Keeping A Fresh Bed
We all know how dirty a mattress can get in just a matter of a few weeks. Well, the cover of the eve can be taken off and thrown in the washer. So not only will you have fresh sheets, you will have a fresh bed! How awesome is that? I know that is not something that should be mainly considered when buying a new mattress, but it is definitely a huge plus for the eve!
To conclude my review of the eve, this is on my list of mattresses that offer an ideal comfort level, and I have slept on a lot of mattresses due to traveling. I can say that it does help support joints and muscles, it did relieve pain my husband and I had, and it did do what it was suppose to do. It is a great fit for anyone because it is affordable for a mattress with these great features, it has that awesome trial period, and it is just an all around great product and that’s why it’s made our list for our top 5 picks.
