Support and Elasticity
Combining excellent support and contouring comfort can be tricky to get just right. Oftentimes, it comes at the expense of breathability and overall resilience. The Eight Smart mattress is designed to overcome this common obstacle in the industry. Its unique cell structure allows the product to quickly bounce back to its original shape. This allowed me to easily get out of bed, and I noticed a reduction in pressure points while sleeping.
One of the first things I noticed right after unboxing was that I could definitely pick up on the feel of memory foam, but there just seemed to be more bounce than a memory foam typically offers. This is because, rather than putting memory foam in the top comfort layer, this product implements the use of a 2 inch reactive poly foam layer on top. This is intended to help the product bounce like latex but feel like foam. The memory foam right beneath it offers excellent contour. Firmness
Eight Sleep implements the use of a special 4-layer blend of premium supportive foams, so they don’t provide their indentation load deflection stats as this information is proprietary. You don’t get a choice in firmness. Having slept on it for one night, I can tell you that it feels like it lands in the medium firmness level. In our full review, we’ll take a look at the sinkage to give you a better idea of how it measures up on the spectrum.
Bounce and Responsiveness
Getting in and out of the Eight Smart mattress was really easy, and I think their placement of the top comfort layer has a lot to do with this. The company invested hours of research into getting the placement of their four layers just right, so make sure you stay tuned to watch the bounce of this mattress in action in our full review.
