Overview
Eight Sleep is a company founded by Matteo Franceschetti, an entrepreneur who simply wasn’t getting enough sleep. The company has an impressive advisory board: people with PhDs and MDs in psychiatry, professors at Harvard Medical School, professors of Biology at Stanford, and even the director of the Yale Center of RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome).
Eight Sleep was originally known as Morphy, and was founded in 2014. One year later, the company changed its name to Eight Sleep. Aside from selling its products online, Eight Sleep also has a showroom opened in New York.
Products & Construction
The Eight Sleep company is known for manufacturing and selling two main mattress models: the Smart Bed (formerly named “Jupiter”) and the Pod. The Pod is the latest additional to the family, while the Smart mattress is the veteran.
The reason why both these mattresses are so popular is because they’ve merged a quality and comfortable bed with technology that helps people track their sleep and gather more information about their resting bodies.
The Smart mattress has a cover that hides the sensor layer, the one that picks up your sleeping information. The rest of the mattress is constructed with two inches of foam available in a medium firmness level, four inches of transition foam that connects the comfort layer to the high-density support foam base.
The Smart mattress sensor layer works hand-in-hand with the designated smartphone app, to gather about 15 different metrics related to your sleep: from heart rate to deep sleep cycles. The cover also includes heating sensors, so that you can warm up your bed during cold winter nights. Each of the sides has an individual temperature control function, so you can warm just half of the bed, if needed.
Eight Sleep also sells a number of sleeping accessories. They offer blue wave glasses, which can block blue light in an attempt to help you regulate your circadian rhythm. The waterproof mattress protector is another great additional for the Smart mattress.
The company also sells a foundation and a pillow, both of them compatible with the mattress, providing a higher comfort and a better sleeping experience.
Price
Due to the technology and design of the Eight Smart mattress, the bed is only available in sizes Full to Cal King. The lowest price one can expect to pay is $895, the equivalent of a Full-sized mattress. The Cal King model is available for $1.195.
The mattress foundation is priced at $275 for the Queen size, while a mattress protector starts off at $125 for the Full size.
Warranty & Returns
Both beds sold by Eight Sleep come with a 10 year warranty. While the warranty covers the replacement or repair of defective parts and components of the Smart mattress, it’s the buyer’s responsibility to take care of all shipping charges. The technology for the Smart mattress comes with a one-year warranty.
The Smart bed, much like its Pod counterpart, is also covered by 100 nights of sleep trial. You can return the mattress at any time during the first 100 days for a full refund, and the company will also take care of the shipping fees.

Eight Sleep will deliver its products for free to all the 48 continental states in America, but does not ship the products anywhere else.
