Overview

Founder and co-owner of Bear Butt, Michael Whiteley, overcame incredible odds and decisions that would have folded lesser businesses to launch his line of hammocks in the fall of 2015. With some questionable financial decisions, Bear Butt found themselves behind on payments and losing office space but persevered to grow their company into the brand it is today. by treating their customers right, allowing their employees to display their creative side and offer high quality products for the right cost; they have become one of the leading retailers for the outdoor adventurous crowd.

Products & Materials

While Bear Butt might have started out as only hammocks, slowly but surely they are increasing their product line to include more from bug nets to security straps for their hammocks.

  • The Double Hammock is not only the first product Bear Butt ever produced; it is also their top seller. The strength of this hammock comes from its 210-thread count and the blend of 75D nylon taffeta from which the hammock is produced. Using a triple stitch to reinforce all the seams of the hammock, it has been durability tested for 500 lbs. of weight. Using nylon as the main fabric also allows the user to experience a higher level of breathability.
  • Bear Butt Bug Net is the perfect add-on for any outdoor camping trip as its mesh netting material is perfect for keeping insects and bugs out of your hammock and away from yourself. It features a dual sided zipper for easy access in and out of the net while the attached paracord is the ideal way to secure it to your hammock.
  • The RainFly is a polyester piece of material designed to keep the rain and elements of nature from reaching your hammock. It also provides a much-needed shade during those humid summer hikes. It comes with two metal spikes that secure into the ground but can be folded up into a small square to be carried in a backpack or in your luggage.
  • The Kodiak Straps are ten-foot-long straps with 20 attachment points to further secure your hammock to your chosen location for the night. A single strap can hold 500 lbs. and features triple stitching for additional security. Polyester webbing ensures that the strap will not stretch or break while attaching the hammock and numerous attachment points means that the height is always right for you.
