The Very Best Beautyrest Platinum Reviews

Candace Osmond

Sleeping cool is an important part of a good rest that people tend to overlook, as they focus on other mattress-related features, like firmness and support. While the latter two are also important, you won’t truly appreciate a mattress’ breathability feature until you actually have trouble sleeping hot. Since today we’re focusing on a premium mattress line designed to overcome the heat issues that arise at night, we wanted to see what are some of the benefits of sleeping cool.

The Very Best Beautyrest Platinum Reviews

1. SPRING GROVE™ – Editor's Choice

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 15 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Available in different levels of firmness to cater all needs.
  • Combines dix layer of memory foam with different properties for better comfort and support.
  • Coils are individually wrapped for minimal motion transfer.
  • All layers are designed with the sleeper’s skin breathability in mind.

Cons

  • Despite all the foam layers, there doesn’t seem to be too much contouring.

The 15 inches in height of the Spring Grove mattress are divided but combined to work together to provide the sleeper with comfort and coolness. The InfiniCool surface is designed to draw heat away from the body, while the AirFeel foam layer feature open cell foam to allow air to pass through and make you feel a lot more comfortable. The layer of gel memory foam is designed to provide your body with the needed support. The GelTouch foam is made to evenly distribute your body’s weight across the surface.

Underneath all these intelligent layers, lies the layer of pocketed coils are designed to keep you on top of the structure. Being individually wrapped, they also encourage better airflow within the mattress itself and are looking to minimize motion transfer, to avoid one sleeping partner waking up because of the movements of the other.

The Spring Grove mattress is available in different firmness levels, which means that the way you feel when lying on the mattress will vary from one level to another. But due to the thickness of the mattress, applying pressure on the surface will cause you to feel just the comfort of the memory foam layers on top.

2. EMERALD FALLS™

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 14.5 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Topside integrates InfiniCool technology, for moisture and humidity wicking.
  • AirCool gel memory foam layer regulates temperature.
  • Includes dynamic response memory foam, to make the mattress more responsive under pressure.

Cons

  • The manufacturer doesn’t disclose the density of the materials used.
  • The most expensive mattress in the Platinum Line.

The Emerald Falls mattress follows pretty much the same pattern as the other mattresses in the Platinum line. It contains the PlatinumICE memory foam that’s only found in this line of Beautyrest products. In fact, the whole idea behind the Platinum line is to make sure that airflow is optimized to the best comfort of the sleeper. Running hot is a downside of most memory foam mattresses and this is a problem that could lead to uncomfortable sleeping. Beautyrest’s mattresses are aimed to solving that problem by not only integrated foam layer with open cell technology and gel infusion, but the pocketed coil system is here to enhance heat dissipation and air circulation inside the mattress.

3. HAVEN PINES™

Between the Silver and the Black lines, the Beautyrest Platinum mattresses even the balance between price and performance, and they are considered medium-range products.

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 14.5 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Model integrated the BackCare 3X technology, with additional pressure relief coils.
  • Combines several foam layers that work together for cooling and support.
  • Plush firmness is very comfortable for side sleepers.
  • Comes in different firmness levels.
  • Uses antimicrobial technology for a fresher mattress.

Cons

  • Mattress can’t be flipped.

The difference between the different models in the Platinum line lies in the layers used in the construction of the mattresses. To make our, point, let’s compare the Haven Pines mattress to the first one in this review roundup, the Spring Grove. Both of them feature the InfiniCool surface, to wick moisture and sweat from your body and allow your skin to breathe in high temperatures. They both have the AirFeel foam as part of the comfort layer… and that’s pretty much it. The Spring Grove comes with a soft comfort foam layer, while the Haven Pines has gel memory foam and AirCool foam. What Beautyrest did is juggle with the different technologies and create several Platinum mattresses.

As for the contour layer, the Haven Pines has one inch of comfort foam, but also GelTouch Foam and BackCare 3X. Some of the newer mattresses in the Platinum line have a BackCare 3X layer, which uses 2,000 more coils that are aimed at providing pressure relief and better support.

4. CRESTRIDGE™

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 13 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Three layers of different memory foam are added for cooling and support.
  • The base of the mattress features PressureSense™ Hybrid Support System.
  • Comes with a 10-year limited warranty.

Cons

  • Isn’t as thick as other models.

The Crestridge mattress is one of the 13-inch profile mattresses sold by Beautyrest. It integrates a generous comfort layer made with AirCool gel memory foam, ActivePur memory foam and the InfiniCool HD surface. All of these layers work together to maximize airflow while allowing the user to feel comfortable on the mattress. Since it’s plush, you will feel the softness of the mattress as you apply pressure with it. It’s great for side sleepers but still manages to provide the right support for back sleepers. The contour layer combines gel memory foam and medium comfort foam, which we expected to be more body contouring.

5. JAYCREST™

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 13 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Plush mattress, great for side sleepers.
  • Features the 1,000 Density Beautyrest Pocketed Coil Technology.
  • Integrates the InfiniCool surface for better breathability.

Cons

  • Doesn’t come in a firmer version.

The Jaycrest is another plush mattress sold by Beautyrest which promises a great deal of pressure relief for people who like to sleep on the side. Its 13 inches of height is divided amongst the comfort layer made from different kinds of cooling foam, the contour layer which is basically one inch of comfort foam and the base layer, made with 1,000 pocketed coils for better support, minimal motion transfer, and proper pressure relief.

6. ATLAS COVE™

Highlights

  • Available Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King
  • Height: 13 inches
  • Shipping: US & International

Pros

  • Features a layer of ActivePur foam with additives for better cooling properties.
  • Mattress is antimicrobial.
  • InfiniCool surface has moisture wicking properties.
  • Base layer alternates pocketed coils and pocketed memory foam for good pressure relief and body support.

Cons

  • Only available in a firm version.

If you’re looking for a firmer mattress, the Atlas Cove is a much more suitable choice compared to the Jaycreat or Crestridge. It does fall on the expensive side of this mattress line (depends on your perspective, some people would say all of them expensive). It combines ActivePur memory foam and HD memory foam for support and body contouring. The design and construction of the mattress stay true to the Platinum line’s goal to provide the sleeper with cooling properties and good airflow from the top to the bottom layer. Contouring is reassured by the energy and HD memory foam, while the base layer features the PressureSense™ Hybrid Support System.

Tips & Benefits

Whenever your body’s temperature is not regulated during your sleeping hours, it can cause insomnia. Some of the best mattresses will regulate the temperature of your body and cool it down during your peak sleeping hours.

Sleeping cool can also boost your metabolism. As silly as that may sound when your skin is able to breathe, it can increase the good fats in your body. These fats are the ones responsible for calories burned. Even more, sleeping cool can increase the melatonin levels in your body, which helps prevent cancer. No, a mattress doesn’t cure cancer, but one that helps you sleep cool is a small step towards preventing it. That’s because when your blood isn’t rich in melatonin, it favours the growth of tumours.

Sleeping too hot doesn’t only affect you on a physical level, but also on a psychical one. If your body is not fully comfortable when sleeping, you will wake up feeling tired, grumpy and a lot more stressed. If the room you’re sleeping in is very hot, this causes your cortisol production to rise. This, in turn, can lead to depression.

Some of the best cooling mattresses have covers which are made from cotton. If your mattress is made with a polyester cover, you might want to consider purchasing some cotton sheets. Not only does cotton allow proper ventilation, but it can wick away moisture from your body and avoid excessive sweat.

Another tip for sleeping cooler is to avoid excessive clothing when it’s not needed. Yes, sleeping naked is, in fact, ideal if you are a person whose body temperature rises a lot during the night. A naked body combines with a pair of premium cotton sheets can improve the quality of your sleep more than you can even imagine. If you don’t feel comfortable sleeping without clothing, choose pajamas or special sleeping apparel that’s made from natural materials, like cotton.

If your bedroom exposes you to extreme temperatures during the night, another trick is using a fan to cool off. This is a great solution for people who don’t own an air conditioning unit (and even if they do, sleeping with the air conditioning on can cause several other health problems).

Beautyrest Platinum Line

Before moving on, you should know a little bit about the Platinum line of mattresses delivered by Beautyrest. Located between the Silver and the Black lines, the Platinum mattresses even the balance between price and performance but, while they are considered medium-range products, they aren’t all that inexpensive.

The Platinum name comes from the heat dissipating materials that are used in the construction of the mattresses’ viscoelastic layers. Another one of the main characteristics of this line of mattresses is the coil counts that add up to 1,000 coils for a Queen-sized mattress. While most mattresses in the line are strikingly similar to one another, there are details that make them different. We’re going to review some of their most popular models, all falling under the Platinum line name.

The sophisticated patterns are blended in a beautiful and comfortable product. The Platinum line sells 16 different mattresses that are either innerspring or hybrid and with prices that vary between $1,299 and $2,999. 11 of these models feature innerspring technology, while the other five integrate cooling technologies. Some of the innerspring models feature BackCare 3X, which is a support layer made with more than 2,000 pressure-relief micro coils. The hybrid models, on the other hand, feature the PressureSense™ Hybrid Support System. This system alternates pocketed memory foam and pocketed coil springs to provide great body support and pressure relief.

The Bottom Line

If there’s one conclusion we can draw after analyzing the construction and features of the Platinum line created by Beautyrest is that cooling was the main goal the manufacturer kept in mind when combining all the integrated technologies of these mattresses. Depending on the model chosen, the Platinum line mattresses feature several comfort and contouring layers that work together to relieve the pressure for different sleeping positions, as they are looking to embrace the sleeper’s body for the well-deserved comfort that the body needs at the end of the day.

The name of the line is derived from the PlatinumICE memory foam which is part of the top layers in mattresses from this line, looking to provide a surface that’s cool to the touch and a mattress that can return to room temperature within minutes after getting up. The pocketed coil layers feature individually wrapped coils, a major improvement compared to the traditional coil mattresses that, in time, began to poke our ribs as we lay down. Due to the construction of this layer, there is sufficient space between the coils to allow air circulation and, since each coil bends individually under pressure, motion transfer is kept to a minimum.
